A legal battle over a model...

I found this while doing some background research on some photos I saw in a reference book on the American M3 tank.
Seems there was or perhaps still is a struggle over a model of an M7 Priest and various documents between an ALCO museum,
family relatives of the former ALCO plant manager who owns(ed) the materials and another museum. Don't know if it's been resolved.

I don't know enough about the individuals involved here to say one way or another, but I've seen plenty of instances where a person or family would loan an item to a museum and the museum assumed that the loan was permanent and they would never have to give it back. Museums can be a lot like governments, once they get their hands on your stuff, they really don't want to give it back. I guess the lesson here is, if you're going to donate something to a museum, either make it an outright donation, or don't bother. Loaning things like that is never a good idea, but that's just my opinion.

All that fuss over a model, you’d think it was the Littlefield Panther or something!

Who can say, it may have enormous sentimental attachments for the family.

The family I can understand, but the museum on the other hand......
