Thought i would introduce a new model i have been working on.
First prototype is a bit rough and not cleaned at all, but its coming together nicely and i am chekcing how it pieces together and improving parts as i go along :) |

Very nice! Well done.

That looks great, I have a question for you. What are the "cable spools" for on each of the truck fenders? I remember building the 1/35 Tamiya 88mm kit way back in the 70's but I have always wondered what they were for.
Can't wait to see it all up in paint & weathered! Larry |
The cable reels are for a communication & targetting setup when they are in AA setup.
I found a link, but for some reason cannot post it, will try and sort later. But they would be linked to other 88's and a communication truck and they would give targets for them and allow communication between all the guns in the battery. In AT setup, the gun wouldn't be connected like this and most likely setup singly but the gun was that flexible it was great in both roles. A very advanced set of weaponry for its time! |

Very Nice Will. That's a big gun for the SDKFZ 251 to tow. Both look great!

Good news, the printers are running hard to print off the first Flak 36 88mm which are being sold on. This thing really does eat print time, over 370hrs printing in one complete gun unit.
Not to mention the time required to clean parts and assemble. Hopefully have our first one painted up some time soon aswell to better show it off :) |
Only a 2ch test at the moment, the 3channel one with recoil will follow.
Yes the servo operation is not exactly smooth, maybe some tuning of the transmitter settings will allow me to change the speed of operation etc, but actually i am very happy. Servos on this are simple MG90s in base(although the 2nd i am building at moment has a 360°Servo) & a metal servo for elevation as it requires quite a bit of torque to lift the gun section. I don't think this would work on 1s lipo, but it might barely run off a 4.8v nimh pack, maybe i can try that, but i think it would be on its limit. There will be a 4th channel at somepoint for the axles so that the rear axle unit can also be steered, but you have to await those tests. |
Had to have a wee play with the flak and put some more testing on it |
Quick adjustment on the elevation setup

So an update here is i made a vehicle mounted version, a ground mounted version and also a fully set of SD.ANH.202 axles to tow it around.
I have a static and poseable version, but so far have decided to re-look at the elevation control to slow it down and make more precise. Maybe a job to finish before end of 2021 It also looks awesome without a main front shield, very menacing Anyway here are some pictures Attachment 2270753 Attachment 2270754 Attachment 2270755 Attachment 2270756 Attachment 2270757 Attachment 2270758 Attachment 2270759 |
I'm waiting for you to do the static version in 1/6 scale. Depending on price I might have to add that to the list of things you'll be making for me. Let's see, where are we now? The 251, the ss100, the meillerwagen and what else? I know there's something else but I can't remember what it is.

I am waiting with great anticipation for my 88 from Will and Catherine and of course then more waiting for the FAMO although I expect the 251 will beat it to my mailbox, .Whenever it will be Christmas (Other holidays are available) whatever day it/they come/s.. |
That's it, the Famo. I'll also be able to use that to pull the 15 cm Howitzer, which is almost finished, and if I ever find one at a decent price I'm going to do a K 18 as well. For those of you that have the 15 cm Howitzer kit, I figured out a way to put bearings on the axles of the limber so that the wheels will turn. I'll probably start a thread on that build and include it there, but if anyone wants to see it, you guys know how to get to my YouTube channel. It's the last video I posted.
