Show Your Tank’s Wear and Tear
 

Just a fun thread to show off your tank’s wear and tear from outdoor maneuvers. I can be pretty hard on my Initial Production Tiger1 driving through rocky creeks, over gravel, concrete ledges and tree roots etc which is pretty tough on plastic and paint. I’ve repaired holes and cracks with two-part epoxy and body filler but the damage keeps coming. I’m sure Max will have a pic or two as much as he drives his tanks!

One of my M41s suffering from a bit of hard use and wear. It has since been repaired and running as good as ever.

Ouch!! That’s pretty much a show stopper.

I switched mine to the henntek system as I was building it wanted the adjust ability plus with that a none moving area seen it to be first to go.

The way I drive the three “Henntek” idlers have never held proper tension and caused me more issues then they solved. They work great for people with less aggressive driving styles though.

This M41 was a 10 year old tank when I bought it. I then stripped it, replaced the electronics and upgraded the tracks/sprockets. It took three years of abuse and stressing the stock idler to finally break it. Breaking the idler on a 13 year old tank did not surprise me. Fully expected it to happen sooner. The fix I did continues to hold strong almost a year and half later. This M41 is still driven hard and battled often.

I've had the m41 from Imex for about 10 years now and it's never given me any problem and I've never felt the need to put in an idler adjust. It's always just been a great running little tank. Of course, my tanks don't see a lot of hard running so they tend to last pretty well.

And Tankster, now I know who you are at rctw because I saw the thread over there. I never knew that was you. There are several guys who keep bugging me to try and get reinstated at rctw but I just don't think it's worth it. As long as Herman and Mick are moderators I have no interest in returning there.

Count me with the guys that want you back.

I keep blowing out Tamiya tranny gears. Their brass and pot metal gears get all chewed up when driving and maneuvering in soft dirt and sand. Im a bit tired of repairing them a lot so I’m switching to ETO tranys as budgeting allows.
also flat killed a Tamiya shaft when the T66 tracks detracted and pulled hard on the sprocket and broke it clean off.

I've seen your post of your test track I can see how hard you drive them and test there durability .

Less about rc tank wear and tear and more about the poorly designed…”the Henntek System” only kinda works with plastic stock tracks and not with the Kenny Kong Leo 1A4 metal tracks. The newly finished Leo went less than 3 feet and the Henntek lost tension, and the heavy metal tracks took off the side and forward skirts. The Tamiya kit idler system would have worked without issue using metal tracks.

To say I was disappointed in the useless Henntek idler adjusting system is a vast understatement. Went back to running the inaccurate Tamiya kit plastic tracks. Still have the Leo 1 heavy metal tracks 5 years later and are now donated to Rich’s new Leo 1 build.

Agree, the site does have some great rc modelers though, but you can also find that almost anywhere.
