Cross 1/12 BTR90 8x8
Cross' newest 1/12 BTR90 8x8 is calling to me. Time to start saving for one of their kits.
More info on the RC Fans page - its in Chinese but easy to translate via Chrome.https://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/_p22ZbUbdLcfNcAa13h-xw https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...4b2a413c4.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...e2682a6af.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...155124ed1.jpeg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...ffdf7738c.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...c935460a6.jpeg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...1473687ca.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...1194c4f4f.jpeg |
Not really into 1/12, but that is a damn fine looking vehicle. I wouldn't mind picking one up.

That might tempt me to get into 1/12. Any idea on price? I even went to the cross website but they don't seem to list prices anywhere.
|
Dangnab it why do these guys continue to go down the 1/12 lane?? They make some interesting stuff but 1/12??

In my opinion they are overpriced especially when compared to H&G RC Trucks.. |
Saw this on FB, its really cool. I'm not much into modern vehicles but this will be amazing with 8 wheel drive. I'd rather have a nice WW2 Puma! Cross makes some nice stuff, so won't be cheap. 1/12 seems to be the new frontier for RC modelling. It is half of 1/6 so perhaps easier that way. I'm trying to avoid a new scale myself (although tempted by the 1/12 ROC Hobby Jeep which is nifty). So far avoided anything 1/12. It is a nice compromise between 1/16 (too small for some) and 1/6 (too big for most).

Bob, I believe you said it best. Its a good in-between scale. Other than Hooben who's been pushing 1/10, nothing new appears to be coming out here in that scale beside RC cars & crawlers & even that appears to be losing steam. |
Chuck,
If they start making nice WW2 tanks in 1/12 I could be in trouble $$$ wise. LOL. 1/10 is an ideal scale, but no one ever made figures and small vehicles - so it never caught on. Still somewhat popular in Germany and EU for scratch builders. But all the 1/10 retail model makers in Germany have gone the way of the buffalo.. 1/12 could really take off - there's already a bunch of nice figures (although expensive they are nice!). Hoobin seems to have really blown it. I was tempted by a couple of them, but I don't want to spend $700 and be immediately disappointed by something breaking. This is where FMS hit a home run with their little jeep. Companies that have high quality and reasonable prices will be successful - Tamiya proved that. Tamiya's marketing strategy is to only make a few, and drive demand and prices through the roof. If they were the only game in town you can do this, but it doesn't make since when there is large untapped (and unfulfilled) market. |
Cross, HG & KKRC are all proof positive that China does have excellent manufactures when it comes to design, engineering & quality in military RC hobby grade vehicles. Cross has always been the higher priced of the three but their kits are worth it; same for KKRC. HG, by far, offers the best overall value when it comes to RTR models & it appears FMS is following their lead with their new ROC line. When it comes to crawlers, Traction / King RC is tops in my mind. They also aren't afraid to think outside the box with their line of new crawlers.
Yes, Hooben really screwed themselves as well did a huge disservice in trying to build up 1/10. I don't see anyone here at this point showing interest in that scale. |

Always with the negative waves man .... Now get to work on building one of those KKRC CA-30 kits you have! BTW, those CA-10 tires I got the other week. The remaining 222 parts just arrived so you might have an idea of what I'll be doing today. |
