RCTrains?

Hello
Been super busy recently, but decided to take a break and play with one of my Garden G scale trains and do something a wee bit different, probably introduce people on here if they are into trains or military trucks and tanks.
The loco is a Newqida RC Loco which runs 27mhz on 7.2v nimh and can run metal or plastic outdoor tracks. The kids love it. I have a couple, but wanted to turn the more worn looking one into a WW2 camoflaged version

More masking up & yet more late evening cold evening painting, you think i would have learned, but i have little time to be picky, if its dry i can paint my own models lol(thankfully i am building a small paint booth with extraction and heater so that will help when its done!

Fingers crossed i can get some camo green and brown on the train this weekend

Should look cool pulling around some scale artillery on the garden railway

Crius 01-14-2022 06:07 AM

Looks pretty good. It will look even better when it's pulling a fully completed 251. Bwahaha

I agree. I'd better scale up the loco so I can haul the 251, but that will push your 251 build date back lol

Crius 01-14-2022 08:26 AM

I'm pretty sure that date is sometime in 2028 so I don't think a few extra days will matter that much.

That's cool Will. You got me thinking that Tankland needs a railroad.

they moved alot by rail, so yeah I think its definitely needed
I think it be cool to move around on rail with 1/16

A troop train with an aftermarket IR target circuit that would cut the power feed to the train when a tank shot it would be cool. I know Pershing tanks engaged a German troop train near the end of WW2.

The down side of laying railroad track at Tankland is that occasionally herds of wild elk roam through the place. Their hoof prints make a zone of destruction that looks much like an allied bombing run. They make lots of overlapping 6 inch craters in a rough line that wipes out everything in that path.

although expensive the random destruction could lead to cool battle damage and the trains might stop running at point of trqck issue and lead to easier engaged target ;)

We build our own Tracks, Lokomotive and Trailer in 1/16.

I know you have shown me this before, but i think its excellent, i love the detail and the setup you guys have made. Very very good.
Maybe this summer i will have some running outside

If I ever get the room to do RC trains, G scale would be the way to go. I've only been an HO or N scale modeler and though it would be cool to mix RC and trains, but figured the RC equipment needed would be to big for diesels, even in HO. G scale would be awesome. No track cleaning needed! :D

Crius 01-25-2022 05:48 AM

About the only thing that's keeping me from G scale is the cost. They call 1/32 scale truescale because the track is actually made in 1/32 scale. That's the same size as my slot cars. I'm sure the two would go together quite nicely, but the slot cars are expensive enough. Have you seen the price of G scale trains lately? Wow. And I thought tanks were expensive.

Yes Gary, trains are expensive, but why 1/32 when you could go 1/16 hehe, oh yeah, probably work out more expensive, harder to get 3.5" track, oh well, looks great next to 1/16 militaria

I defo want to re-create this German Krupp Steam loco in 1/16, it will be monstrous, although i probably need to design a few others no doubt

Hemtt TFFT 01-25-2022 06:53 AM

Looks good

Olaf

Crius 01-25-2022 08:18 AM

1/16 would be great, but it would mostly have to be custom-made. Not only is 1/32 the same scale as my slot cars, it's the true scale for G scale so you can buy the track and most of the accessories right off the shelf. In 1/16 scale almost everything will have to be custom-built.

Will01Capri 02-07-2022 06:41 AM

Ok the video is a little bumpy, i am trying to work on that
https://youtu.be/GK9tMZyZjm8 Had a wee play on the weekend with the kids and getting out the toys
