Moving target
I cobbled this moving target together using a JJRC truck (still stock electronics) and one of Tank Hobby's IR target circuits. The truck will run with or without the IR target circuit turned on. One shot from a tank stops the truck instantly by shutting off the power from the battery and also lights up the 4 red LEDs in the custom kitbashed "Apple" that I designed and 3d printed using parts from an old Heng Long IR apple. The red LEDs stay on for about 20 seconds and a speaker makes an explosion sound, then the truck turns back on, ready for more.
The target circuit is a stand alone unit that will fit into, and work in any of my JJRC or WPL trucks. I designed a tray the speaker and circuit and battery all sit in that holds a boom that holds the apple. It just sits in the truck bed, has it's own power (9v) and cuts the power feed from the truck battery (6v) to the truck when it receives a IR hit. It's a soft skin target the tanks can shoot at. https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...11ebba8f51.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...dcdadf8916.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...4747e85ea9.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...c701e3edbb.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...bcd5a255a3.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...34e070be6e.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...32416d76a0.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...69e34bfff7.jpg |

Thanks guys. I had planned to make a cool movie of my Sherman shooting the truck and stopping it dead, but the IR LED on the Sherman is not working. I even had Oddball talked into doing a cameo appearance as the tank commander.
I can fix the Sherman, it's a Mato with a DBC slaved off a Heng Long RX-18 board that I built out myself, but it will take some time. I tested the truck target circuit using a stock Tamiya Leopard, a Heng Long Abrams with a IBU3, and a stock Heng Long T-90 with the 7.0 board. It worked great with all those tanks. Alas, the Sherman will take IR hits, but will not give them out. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...bc1499b36d.jpg |
I like the paint job on Oddball. He looks like he's stoned out of his gourd. Just like the real Oddball.
Hey man, I just ride on 'em, I don't know what makes 'em work. |
cool. That's a Dodge Power wagon though isn't it? :)

The German moving target truck is made from one of those toy trucks that I believe is supposed to be a Russian truck. I painted it up to look like a captured or commandeered truck the Germans pressed into service. The Germans used over 150 different truck types in WW2, including Fords built at a German factory in Germany under license from Ford (The license was granted in the 30's), but to my knowledge they never used Dodge trucks except for the occasional captured one. |
Isn't that the same cab that comes on the q60? I built one of those, and the cab looks more like a Chevy to me, maybe 1938 to 40.

Yep. It's a Q60. They do look a lot like those old Chevy truck cabs. They look like Studebaker trucks of that era to.
