extra circuit board in Sherman kit?

Anyone that has built the Tamiya Sherman 105mm Howitzer kit(56014),what is the extra circuit board for?
It looks like a small ESC and is wrapped in black shrink wrap......cannot find any info in directions manual about this.
Cannot figure out what it is used for!

instructions for use on seprate sheet it's called extension unit will try to show a picture.you only need this for 2 chanel use

That sheet had slipped out of the book somehow and fell behind the desk.......
