Lets All Re-Read The RCU Forum Posting Rules :)

I was not privy to any exchanges that occured this morning but let me be blunt about this: You have no right to come in here and censor an entire long thread. For the most part, this thread was filled with decent debate which had taken a great deal of time to write.

This amounts to censorship and I don't appreciate it. Now, if there are specific violations in certain posts, then you have every responsibility to trim the hedges. However, you don't cut the hedge off at the base of the trunk for absolutely no reason.

And if you indeed cut off that entire thread, then you obviously did not read it in its entirety. I suppose you could ban me for expressing my views or I suppose cut off this post as well. I suppose we should expect that sort of thing.

I suppose we should not take the time to write our ideas in lengthy posts for fear they will be wasted thoughts. Best to make posts with 5 words or less - that way when they get popped again by Chancellor Sutler here, its no big deal.

I want to also say that most of the admins I have had a word or two with, are very nice and well intended guys, who do this on a volunteer bases. I just think this particular admin has overrstepped his responsibilities.

I would appreciate the support of the forum on this point which should have no debate.

Support Given - the free expression of ideas - even ones you don't like - is the one of the building blocks of a free society.

Lets put aside our partisan differences and rally behind a common cause.

Hello,

It is very strange to remove a thread like that particularly when there is no mention as to why.
I am a Tamiya tank fan myself and certainly enjoyed reading and participating in the passionate discussion of Tamiya and Heng Long tanks.

If we need to continue the discussion, we can start another thread on the same topic.

the administrators should separated tanks topics in 2 group:
tamiya and hl-bandai .
since it allways ends up in insult about my tank.

now i`m leaving, have to go buy those am crystal to see if they work with hl.

Funny, I thought censorship like that went out in 1945?

RE: To the ADMIN playing god

I have been an Admin on a couple of sites. In my opinion there is only call for a deletion if the posts have anything derogatory or insulting, that is racist or harmful in them. Bad language was discouraged, but other than that a forum is just that, a forum, a place where free expression is spoken and listened to. Yes there are bits of banter about the pros and cons of Tamiya vs HL, but hey, we do NOT live in a totalitarian society, and therefore freedom of speech is the law if I am not mistaken.....There is that support enough ?

Cheers A

Why was this post deleted then? Who deleted it? Can we have a name and shame? I had put several inputs to it myslef and even one that stated this was the type of discussion we needed with friendly debate on both sides of the HL\Big T divide. I am not for censorship which this appears to be and my views are we live in a free society where we can express our views as long as they are not deliberately offensive to others. If per chance somebody had put something that was against the rules surely only that one should be removed and not the whole post.

You can take it that my support is given - but then again they may just delete this post as it does not go with the thoughts of the gods.

that was the rape of free speech.

Templar,
From the outset I want to point out that I believe I played nice on the deleted thread, and did not give anyone any reason to report and have any of my posts deleted. Am I right?

Now this 'hedge trimming' you refer to,I assume you believe the only posts which should have been deleted were the ones that you yourself reported, as you had indicated you had done?

Jerry the 'Madtanker' was the last post I saw on that thread ,and he made some comments about what he felt was your over zealous reporting of comments you don't like. I think the moderator decided it was easier to delete the entire thread instead of dealing with a list of separate 'reports'. This is not a personal attack templar, but I think you have yourself to blame for the deletion.

How about you just 'roll with the punches' from now on, don't run to the moderator, they read the posts in their own time anyway, let them make their own judgements about what to delete.

Otherwise things aren't going to be much fun anymore, are they? You can't expect the whole board to fit the mold you want, so lets all try to 'cop it sweet' from now on; shall we?

Lets agree to disagree, it's OK.
Nev:D

The report button is like the red button in a hospital room, if you push it to many times the outcome can be quite unexpected  the deletion of the entire thread may be an indication that not just one post was unacceptable, who knows, I missed it [>:]

Tankduel,

I'm a big fan of this forum and have enjoyed reading all the posts (the pics and videos, keep em' coming guys). I think a lot of your remarks were seriously misunderstood. These misunderstandings will not occur if we organize the tanking forum into major brands of tanks. Maybe we should submit this for vote by the users of this forum.

I'm one of the MODs.

I'm not sure what post or thread you speak of. If it was that long wandering thread with WAY TOO many hostile posts, then yes, I deleted it. Trim it you say? You guys write faster than we can read and delete the offending posts. When a thread has gone SO FAR off base and is NOT constructive, then the thread goes, period.

First lets get things straight. THIS IS NOT A PUBLIC FORUM, therefore there is NO freedom speech AND censorship is practiced as a matter of course.

I suggest you ALL re-read the RCU rules and refamiliarize yourselves with the posting guidelines.

Second, of ALL the RCU forums I moderate, I receive the MOST "reports" or "tickets" from the TANK forums. Very hard for me to believe The ratio of reports and tickets from this forum FAR exceeds any other forum.

Also, we DO NOT have to provide a reason why a post or thread was deleted. If it violates RCU rules then it goes.

As stated this is a volunteer position. If you think the mods are doing such a poor job, then when there are openings, apply.

And yes this is off-topic and will be deleted shortly.....

I agree with you also, Sownare. [sm=thumbup.gif] What do we do to get it set up like the Monster Truck Forum, with a sub-catagory for each of the major brand names? Request it? Petition for it?

......of course, I will be on the Bandai forum, the Hen Long forum AND the Tamiya forum, because I've got it like that. :D I will be watching to see which ones of you get bored with playing in your own yard and go sneaking around to see what everyone else is talking about. ;)

I think this structure will cut down on many of the problems.

I feel that one is less Likely to post a negative comment outside their area.

The monster truck guys put it to vote after consulting with the moderator. Their forum was dominated by Traxxas TMAXX versus HPI Savage debates that went on forever. Who's the moderator of this forum? Could you kindly offer us information on how to set this to vote? Thank you.
