HL Tiger Internal Mods
As well as modding the outside of my tank I've been playing around with the insides.
Excuses the mess but this is my first attempt at this sort of thing and I was more concerned about getting it all to work then how it looks inside. I've sealed up the bottom and made a few "special modifications" (to quote Han Solo). The battery has been wired staight to the on/off switch so the connector can be used for recharging. Bothh the +ve and -ve wires run through the switch so that when it's switched off the battery is completley cut off from the circuit board and it wont get damaged when I plug in the recharger. The hull has been strengthend so it doesn't twist. I've added two rear LED's for the back lights and fitted a switch so I can turn the LED's off (no point in running around with your lights on in broad daylight). The smoke machine has benn converted so that the smoke is blown out by a CPU cooling fan (no noise). I've added a larger heatsink to the drive transistors, and added another CPU cooling fan. Both fans are positioned so that the are below the grills on the tank. I've hinged the rear grills and placed all the switches, the battery recharge plug and the smoke refill pipe there. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Woz/layout.jpg I've added a turret ring so the turret can rotate 360 dg's and the gun still functions. (just in case any bugger tries to sneak up behind me). http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Woz/Turret.jpg This is what it looks like with the top on- http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...iveWoz/Top.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...iveWoz/ts1.jpg Now I'm making plans for several PzIII's I'm planning on buying. |

RE: HL Tiger Internal Mods
Outstanding work. I also noted that the turret ring is from a Scotch tape roll. As long as it works, who cares right?
What's the specs on the CPU fans; dimensions, voltage? Any chance we can see the smoker running to measure the output? Pics would do fine. -Harq ORIGINAL: Killhammer Some outstanding mods[sm=thumbup.gif] Love the slip ring for the turret wire. Jeff |
RE: HL Tiger Internal Mods
Thanks
The fans are normal CPU fans, about 40mm square and 10 mm deep. I think they're 12v (I just pulled them out of two old pc's) but they work fine on 7.2v. I'm going to try and take a video of the smoke, so I'll post it when I do. The scotch tape was on my desk when I was looking for something with a suitable diameter. |

Impressive work!!

RE: HL Tiger Internal Mods
Great work Woz. The fans should really help with the reliability of the electronics. These fans are very inexpensive and also come in brushless versions. This is a must do mod IMO.
