Adversaries ready to rumble.

1 Attachment(s)
I got my home built IR battle system installed into a T-34 and a Tiger. A lot of trial and error but I have something that works pretty good now. The Tiger is fully loaded with EI mod electronics, and VS tank airsoft cannon. Ouch, this one you have to be careful with.!!

The T-34 continues to get pieces added, and this one is basically a Heng Long T-34. No airsoft gun, just the IR battle system.

The saucer thing is an inverted parabolic mirror that redirects IR hits down to an upward facing IR reciever.

Those pair are great.
Can you explain how you did the home made battle system?Sounds very interesting indeed.

Cheers.

Hallo YHR
Very interesting IR system you've got in your tanks. As Wight posted, could you add some details about the battle system?

Hi if you put a clear plastic cylender or somthing clear like a cube directly on top of the ir sensor it should mke it pick up hits better... you may want to paint the clear objects top black so bright light dont get in and disruped the IR signal.

The flag on the Tiger looks like a WW II Navy flag. The Kampfbanner was normally a solid red background with the swastika in a white circle, usually draped over the turret. This, to facilitate the very speedy removal due to allied air power. Very rarely seen on the antenna. The tanks look great though, and I like the T-34 driver straining to look out....his position did not allow much to be seen outside of the square hole directly to his front, as his seat was about 3 feet back from the hatch.

Pattoncommander

Many people have commented on the Navy Flag. I actually saw a picture of a tank flying this. I suppose the commander could have lost a family member in a U boat, and is flying the flag as a memorial.???

The plan is to use an inverted colored pill bottle over the IR sensor with the parabolic mirror set on top of it. I also devised a lense that fits over the bbl of the T-34 to extend the range. It doesn't look prototypical but it does define and lengthen the range. Without the Lense, range is about 15 feet, with the lense I was at about 30 ft when I ran out of open room in my basement.

I have to install this system in a Bulldog and a Pershing. I will try and do a photo tutorial to capture my method when I work on the next ones. You get lights, and explosion sounds, but this doesn't interact with the tank drive. If I can find a spot on the henglong board that controls the recoil and cannon sound, I could tie into it so a hit would make the tank recoil. I have on old henglong board that still works except for the ESC, so I plan on doing some creative detective work hoping to find this area of the board before it fries. If I am successful, it will be a pretty decent system for the person who has basic soldering skills, and about $25.00 worth of parts.

Does anyone know what kind of range the Tamiya system has????

The Tamiya battlesystem has a range of 30 meters. This range can be +-3 meters from my own independent testing.

30 meters. Thanks. It gives me a bench mark to shoot for
