User Error

Hello everyone. Just starting a new post here, hope people don't mind. Thought that we would have some fun with this one.
List the worst things that you have done to your tank. Any brand.

Tamiya King Tiger:
1. Turned on the tank and then the radio without realizing the throtle was in the up position. Ran full steam into a wall. Damage: main gun recoil unit.
2. Rolled it climbing a slope parallel to it. Damage: some cosmetic parts fell off and tank commander lost his headset.

Tamiya Pershing:
1. Accidentally (so I tell people) drove it through too much mud. Damage: non really, just was a pain to clean off. Made it look really cool though. It drove well though it!

HL Tiger, completely dismantled on the working table: I wanted to measure the voltage at the shooting led, but was unaware that the gun motor was stuck jammed.
Nevertheless I went on keeping the firing stick pushed to keep the led lit while measuring the voltage... until I started smelling something was burning onto the main board.
Result: almost completely burn the gun-related resistor.
Was lucky tho, I just had to change it and everything else worked fine. A couple more seconds and I would have fried the whole board maybe.

One more: during the first runs outside, I heard a strange ticking rumor coming from the tracks but didn't mind to check. The left track was running badly aligned with the sprocket (the track theeth caught in the middle of it) and I run and run until i dropped the whole track on the grass... my first track section broken.
Now I pay an utmost attention at track noise while running outside.

This should be a funny thread reading everybody's OOOoops!! I accidently drove my Pershing off front steps, rear of tank caught on step and lost both rear tow hooks in grass and broke part of tow cable. Left power on while working on Tiger. Stray signal drove tank off work bench in reverse. No damage but scared crap out of me and tank pushed a bunch of tools and paint with it to the floor.

My Pz IV enlisted for airborne. Had it on a top shelf with tank kits while I was driving 2 other tanks in the shop. Heard a bump but paid no attention 'til I went back to my work bench and saw my nice tank with several broken pieces on the floor. The tank was TURNED OFF, but still somehow got a signal and drove off the shelf.....6 ft up. I now heed the instructions to place a 2x4 block under my RC stuff. The other major goof was taking my 11 tanks with me to a Danville Museum visit Although very well padded, I had to remount 3 machine guns, a half track wheel and other minor dings, These things don't behave like 1;1 models.

my pershing was the victom of a sneak attack by a softball in the park. cracked the hull pretty good. After some minor repairs it was ready to go. Next day in the backyard after rotating turret the sucker split down the middle. looked kind of alien like. everytime I would rotate the turret it would spread apart. 1 ton epoxy fixed it now it has a somewhat non military weld line running throughout it. My pershing was battling with my sons tiger, I scored a hit with the airsoft on the hl american commander figure and his entire head slipped off funnier than heck.

My HL Pershing is finally back up and running (and firing!!!), but after testing it to make sure that it was all OK and fully functional, the next night I was so eager to get it charged and start driving it through the house (it was dark outside!), that I only realised that I hadn't removed the plug from the end of the barrel as I fired the gun..... Fired it again without the plug and the next shot just plopped comically out of the end of the barrel! Fortunately, it has since been firing fine (and taking chunks out of the paintwork!)

My HL pershing floats. had the bottom hull taped off and was out in back yard during spring melt off. control stuck on slight forward motion, tank went through a puddle and i gasped at the fact it was deeper then the tank and was "oh noes" and stuff, then it floated with the help of the fenders and crawled its way across.

Spring melt ??? what the heck is that.

Snowed another 4 iches here last night. Haven't seen any grass since Oct 20 2006.

Anyone ever pick up a can of dullcoat to lock all the weathering in, only to discover that can was actually black!!!!!!

Tamiya King Tiger 333 w/ Futaba Skyport. I had just installed the suspension upgrade from Wechoe and charges it up to try out. I fumbled the radio and my tank went full reverse bouncing off a trash can and smashing in to an upright vacuum cleaner. Knocking both over and breaking off 1 rear mud flap.

My Tamiya Tiger 1 decided it could fly. Left it sitting atop a bookcase, next morning found it on the floor upright, sitting on its tracks, just a few odd pieces broken off. Fell about five feet. Forgot to turn off the on-off switch in tank.
Spent one afternoon chasing my dog around the house with my Tamiya Tiger. Dog had her revenge later. Was in the kitchen doing something, heard my dog growling, went to investigate, found her dragging my tank along the floor by its gun barrel. Didn't break the barrel but did have to putty fill & sand out the fang marks![:@]
