Its a good read, covers the day to day life of a tanker on the Eastern front. There is a nice little tale at the end of the book that shows how delicate the main gun could be, that led to the crew blowing it up.

Just read Russian Tanks of World War II by Joseph Page and I'm thrilled

I like to have as many books about particular model as possible. My Hooben Elefant is still in a box but meanwhile I've collected pile of books ;)

Nice collection of Ferdinan/Elefant reference books. I have the Squadron Detail In Action book.

Toadmans Tank Pictures
 

Chris Hughes still offers his Toadmans series of tank pictures at Toadmans Tank Pictures . I bought 'em when they were offered just as CD's but now they can be purchased/downloaded for $5 each, or for $4 if you're an AMPS member. It seems like an excellent deal given the large number of highly detailed pictures. At least that's what the CD's offered and I'd have no reason to think you wouldn't get the same number of pictures in the download offering.

For those who especially like American armor
 

I see that philipat mentioned the Hunnicutt "Sheridan" book. Hunnicutt authored a whole series of tank books (shown below), including the Sherman and Stuart among others. These are excellent references for those subjects. The Chismon book "U.S. Tracked Military Vehicles" is an excellent reference on all U.S. armored vehicles and gives a lot of detail, and pictures, on the genesis of the full production models.

Squadron Signal
 

I have always found the old Squadron Signal publications to be the best source for pictures. These booklets are intended to help scale model enthusiasts with painting and detailing. I have collection of about twenty dating back to 1973 when I was a kid. They were $3.95 back then.

Outside of the Squadron Signal booklet series that addresses every individual vehicle, I can strongly recommend the following larger publications. "Panzer Colors" by Squadron Signal (1976) and "Panzer Colors II" (1978). These publications include most Wehrmacht camouflage schemes (Panzer Colors) and goes into great detail about German vehicle markings including turret #'s etc.

I have no ideal if these publications are still available. But these would be my first recommendation.

I've been a squadron customer for decades and their booklets are definitely very good. Also check out Osprey Publications. Another very good reference source.

Son of Sherman - Second Edition - The Sherman Design and Development - 2 Volume Set

AMPS has did a review of a publishers preview copy.

Good Read
 

I just finished this, great read! Not a reference book, it is written like a memoir but the main protagonist is a fictional character. The event did take place and the author does a great job of providing details so you can mentally visualize the scene like you're watching a movie. I bought my copy on Amazon. WWII tank action on the Eastern front.
