Dimension Engineering

I have their Sabertooth 2x10 RC. Does anyone else. I have it in my modifiedt Tiger, metal tracks, metal gears.
It keeps cutting out when I hit any resistance. I believe it is drawing the battery down below the 6V threshold they specify. It is a new 3300 NiMH battery.
Anyone else huse this ESC and have this problem? By the way, their CS has been really good.

I have the 2x10 RC as well, no problems so far... although I admit that since I've been doing all these mods, I have not really used it except for inside the house for short periods.

Can you post a pic of your interior so we can see your setup?

When it cuts out check to see if the metal around the ESC is warm or hot. Also feel the motors to see if they are hot. Be careful, they could get hot enough to burn (although unlikely).

Double check the wiring also.

Are the motors stock motors?

Stock motors. THe thing is ice cold, no heat buildup. Dim Eng thinks I am pulling the battery voltage too low under load and it is causing their ESC to reset. Brand new 3300 mAhr NiMH pack though. I've seen a few of you use them though.

I looked at the website, specs indicate 6 volts to 25 volts. I'm assuming you are using a 6 cell (7.2 volt) battery. You should be OK. Unless something is drawing a huge amount of current.

If you can obtain a meter, hookup wires to the battery and run them outside the tank. Connect them to the meter, run the tank and walk along so you can see the meter. Check the battery voltage when the unit stalls.

Double check all your DIP switch settings also. Make sure you are not in Lithium mode (see manual).

What radio receiver is hooked up?

I have a Fluke I will hook up. I have a JR 6ch

Okay, here's the latest...

The pics show my interior with all components installed, and the turret with all the components that are needed to finish the mod, but not installed in their end locations.

The fittings on the solenoid are 10/32 x 5/32 "slip-fit". These accept the 5/32 O.D. coiled tube. The tubing can rotate once pushed into the fitting, so the rotation of the breech will be no problem. However, the breech also has to move up and down, albeit slightly, so the coiled hose comes in handy here. Now, on the inlet side, we have a simple 5/32 flexible, not coiled, tube coming from the regulator located in the lower hull. I put a half loop in this tube for the sake of turret rotation. I still need to make a bracket to hold the solenoid in place and make a system to get power to the solenoid. Any ideas on that little booger would be welcome.

I justed checked the voltage on my setup. My cell is 6.7V at OCV. THis seems low but it's a new pack. Hooking up the ESC made no difference. Weak driving draws the battery down to 5 Volts and the thing resets. Are you guys using NiMH batteries?
Is this normal

I got the radio shack 3300 NiMH in mine, the one where you can see each cell (orange & green). Sorry, man, I know very little about this stuff. Wish I could help ya...[:o]

Not familar with that DMD ESC, but sounds like the battery's either bad or somehow didnt charge up right. Or you have a REAL high current drain. Most 7.2;s read 8.7 or so when "hot", and most current draws shouldn't pull them below 7.2 to 7 volts... I also have 3300nimh in my bulldog..
