Sturmtiger problems
Wouldnt you know it, both my Panzer III, and Sturm show up on Friday evening. And I get home Sunday afternoon from a trip and the Sturm sort of works. What I mean is the transmitter is set on ch#B, while the tank is on ch#C. I put both on ch#C throw a fresh charged batt in, and nothing, no sound, just blinking light.......Switch the transmitter back to ch#B and success, she starts.....well, sort of. Right away start testing the functions. Main gun moves up, down, fires, but then the machine gun sound wont stop till I turn the tank off. Turn it back on and it wont start again, weird, just had it running. Ok, now it decides to start, seems like a 50/50% start ratio.......try driving it.....it decides to keep driving straight even after I let off the transmitter sticks, I learned I had to actually put a little reverse in to get it to stop, kinda crazy. After I figure this all out, I try to drive it away from me and it stops.......maybe 4-5' and thats it! Wow, what poor range I'm thinking to myself. My HL's never acted like this and can drive from one end of the house to the other without a hiccup. So since i got this from Mato, I've sent them an email explaining the problems, it seems like its not entirely on the same frequency making it act up. The other channels dont even work at all, so thats another problem in itself. Anyone have problems too? How was Mato on your return, or exchange?

RE: Sturmtiger problems
sounds like a crystal isnt seated right or the antenna isnt on either physically or from the shell to the board.
|
RE: Sturmtiger problems
Hi mine don't change from a to a b to b or C to C i think they are set to one o0f these frequancies only so try A on the radio and go through a ,b ,c and see if it works ifr not then do the same for B on the radio and then last C one of them should match up...that's how mine is.

RE: Sturmtiger problems
Well, opened the rear loading hatch to look inside, at the antenna wire, It is connected to the board. Also took the back off of the transmitter and all wires look conected there too. Its either the transmitter or RX board making it run erratically. Either way I already emailed Mato to see about a replacement tank. I'd rather not spend any more time trying to troubleshoot it, when it should be running to begin with, its principle now.

RE: Sturmtiger problems
Initial reports look like the Matorro Sturmtiger is a good candidate for a Heng Long board upgrade!
|
RE: Sturmtiger problems
YEAH, HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MINE TOO, GUN WON'T TRAVERSE UPWARDS AND WON'T FIRE AT ALL. SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT THE HL PKW III!
|
RE: Sturmtiger problems
Mine does not drive well either.............very dissapointed!!![&o]
|
RE: Sturmtiger problems
I hope the upcoming Matorro King Tiger doesn't have the same problems.
|
RE: Sturmtiger problems
Would be annoying if the KT is this bad, but I'd be happier to make more of an effort to sort it out as the Tamia KT is.. well, Tamiya price! The Mattoro Sturm doesn't seem so good due to the HL Tig coversion kit being available.
Tis a shame if they are all like this [&o] |
RE: Sturmtiger problems
No reply from mato yet about the problems, sent a 2nd email tonight. We'll see how they want to handle it, if at all. I could deal with all the little issues but come on 3-4' range is crazy! I actually have to stand over it to get it to work, and pray the machine gun sound doesnt stick. This is certainly not an enjoyable tank, at this point I'd take a HL Tiger over this. Might as well have a wire from the radio to the tank calling it remote control. Maybe a bad batch?

RE: Sturmtiger problems
Finally a reply from Mato today. They offered me a RX board to try to fix it myself, or a flat return/replacement. I opted for the return/replacement deal. I dont mind fixing things that I break, but dont feel it necessary for me to fix something that came broke. Besides could be the TX, and spending time shipping stuff back and forth doesnt appeal to me. I have asked them to please take the next tank out and drive it all over the place to see if the range and all the bells and whistles work properly, not just push the engine start button and say, "okay works here". I'm still glad I ordered from Mato, had this been Ebay or from somewhere overseas probably be out of luck!

RE: Sturmtiger problems
Mine pulls to one side but i don't know if i should even bother mato about it?
what do you guy's think should i ask him for maybe a new controle board? |
RE: Sturmtiger problems
Is it a sticky gearbox on one side shen? My pzIII pulls left a little as the gears are stiffer that side.
|
RE: Sturmtiger problems
Thing is it's a totally different gear box than what comes in the HL tanks[&o]
|
RE: Sturmtiger problems
Well then swap in your spare hl gearboxes and test it out.
|
RE: Sturmtiger problems
lol swath... you would swap out the whole hull if you thought that was the problem :P
is there idler adjustments on these? there should be some way to make them go straight. |
RE: Sturmtiger problems
The whole gerbox is different I don't want to put the HL gear units in as these ones are sealed very good and i like that ...I will just keep running here and see if she breaks in.
|
RE: Sturmtiger problems
My PZIII also pulls to the left. I wonder if it's a result of the directionality of brushed motors; they have a preferred direction of rotation due to the timing of the brushes/coils to the magnets and when rotated backwards they perform less efficiently. So, it might just be something to deal with...

RE: Sturmtiger problems
If all you have is a slight pull to one side, I'd keep it. It will probably loosen up in the bushings, or gears will mesh better over time. Since these tanks dont move fast it takes a while. It could also be the motors, even within the same batch of motors, all will run differently. but again as the brushes get seated in and bushings in the motor break in they should get pretty close to the same speed. If it really bothers you, you could take the gear boxes out and check the gears ect, lube stuff up and clean out the motors with motor spray. But its just eaier to bump the stick every so often to keep it straight.

RE: Sturmtiger problems
I would think due to the application they should be using zero-timed motors.
Jeff |
RE: Sturmtiger problems
Yea they are 0 timed motors they have to be.
I am going to just keep running it most maybe it will get better...but it's most likly one motor has a little more tork or Rpm than the other. |
RE: Sturmtiger problems
Track tension can also be a factor in one side pulling more than the other. If one track is slightly tighter it will cause binding on that side and effectively slow that motor. Check the tension. I know you cant djust a HL chassis but it could be the case.

RE: Sturmtiger problems
hi people, have sold quite a few tigers, and have just taken delivery of some of the panzer III and sturmtigers,i always check all the tanks before sending them out and have found a few ways of fixing them that maybe of help, firstly if the gun doesnt fire/shoot or move ,on any of the tanks i tend to think it is a remote control problem,i normally try another but know not everyone has this, the cure can be to take the control apart and undo the 4 screws on the front that hold the stick in place, gently release the stick and you will see the at the top and bottom a little metal part the makes contact with another matal part(hope that makes sense)there is one on the left and another on the bottom, you can try pushing the stick and gently pressing the metal part to make a contact,if it works that is the problem, the is a little screw to release the part, undo it and gently bend the arms down a bit,put it back on and try it again,
dont know if this will help, also for tanks that go fast on one side alter the plastic sliders on the right hand joy stick this will stop the tank moving forward or back ward,or the other slider will alter the left or right movment on the motors as i said before hope thos helps and makes sense |
