HL Range

Running the PzIII and the Pershing around I have noticed the PzIII has a longer range and less quarks, sometimes the Pershing will stutter or begin to do strange things when its about 50 ft away, the PzIII seems to be more stable. Is it possible this latest tank has some improvements in the electronics?

Could it have something to do with crystal frequencies? Around the house outside I get about 50 yards in an open field at least double that, too far too see anyway!

Good idea James, I have other crystals, I will try them and post the results.

I can control my S&S Pershing when it's a little dot out in the open field. However, it doesn't want to behave when it gets behind and obstruction.

I'm using Channel 04 on all of my HL tanks (so I only have one transmitter to carry around).

I keep 4 transmitters loaded with batteries ready for play. All the tanks have their TX crystal sitting on top of them as I usually only use one particular transmitter.

As I was thinking about this I realized I never have opened my Pershing up, I just painted it, added doodads, metal tracks and into the field it went. Maybe the antenna wire isn't connected tightly? I will open it and switch check things tonight !

RE: HL Range

I don't think the range has anything to do with the individual tanks. And not all radios manufactured by HL are equal either. Some may have better reception than others. I've had that experience with Futaba radios for my RC buggies. Futaba...is a very known and trusted name in RC radios. And even their equipment varies ever so slightly. It could also be interferences in the air as well.
