Question about Microsol and decals
 

Ready for the decals on my KT. does the microsol or other decal softener go on after the decal is applied? At what point? After you have blotted out the water and it has dried? Do I have to worry about it ruining the paint? Understand the gloss coat/clear coat thing.

What I did on my Tamiya Tiger I after drying out the water was apply the testors dull cote.

The Micro Sol Directions.

Strong decal setting solution. Use water to get the decal loose.

Read the following directions:

Micro Sol setting solution is for the most difficult irregular surfaces you find on models.

It completely softens the decal allowing it to drape down onto the surface of the model, conforming perfectly and without distortion. You can get the most amazing results in seemingly impossible places, because Micro Sol actually makes the decal part of the paint.

For that reason you should coat Micro Sol on the decal for only a few seconds and then leave it alone, it does the work.

Do not touch until dry as the decal is very soft at this stage and could be easily damaged.

For the best result, first apply Micro Sol to prepare the tank surface and enhance the adhesive.

Make sure the surface is free of particles that could get under the decal and blemish it.

Then when the decal is dry enough so that it will not move easily, apply Micro Sol with a small flat brush.

Apply with as few strokes as possible so as not to disturb the decal. Then just allow to dry. One application works in most cases, but if necessary allow to dry completely and reapply until the desired effect is achieved.

Just by following these simple instructions, you should have a perfect professional looking job.

Experiment off the KT, first.

Personally I prefer Solveset decal setting solution over Micosol decal setting solution. When I apply a decal I glosscoat first if I haven't used gloss paint then I apply some of the solution to the area where the decal goes then apply the decal and quickly blot with a soft tissue then apply another coat of solveset on top of the decal and let it do it's job. Some decals will wrinkle more than others but I resist the urge to press out the wrinkles and just let them settle out on their own. When finished they look like they have blended right into the paint
