Tankhobby - relocation
 

Just to let everyone know I have moved from Connecticut to New Hampshire. I'm a stone throw away from Vermont (if you have a good arm). My website will eventually be moved but the address www.tankhobby.com will remain the same. Hopefully the transition will be smooth. I will update my email also.

If anyone is looking for anything it will be about a week or so before my shop is set up. Then hopefully I can get back into the hobby and pick up all those projects I just recently packed away.

So if anyone is interested my house in CT is up for sale and includes a backyard battlefield!

Thanks for the update. I had 6 of your target circuits lined up at our latest battle day, spaced about 3' apart. Quite a few tankers how there tanks were shooting. They should really help us "level the playing field". Since this was a night battle, we hid the circuits into the various buildings which made things a little more visually interesting. There was a lot of talk about using them to trigger smoke, sound, or other items to make the battlefield more "interactive".

Just got myself a 1/2 track from Merle, so when your shop is up and running, I will need to get another BattleCircuit.

A bit of travel to attend a decent sized Tank event ( for you Stonecold would prolly be Danville ) shouldn't be overlooked, a took a train ride to chicago last week and it was inexpensive and fun. Also, its old school, you carry what you want on board, no restrictions, checks or metal detectors. I had breakfast on the dining car and watched the sunrise as we chugged along at about 70mph.

I took one of the target circuits and hooked it up to a relay to a smoke unit from Micromart. So when it was hit the unit would let off some smoke. The smoke generator isn't that quick and it's only on for the duration of the LEDs. Maybe a faster smoke unit would work better. There are some Xenon flash kits out there that aren't too expensive, one of those for a flash effect can probably be connected pretty easily.

The disposable cameras with flashes are a cheap source of a ready made flash unit. Some developer shops just throw them away, and if you ask nicely, they'll give them to you (so I've been told). They may be getting a little harder to find with the switch to digital though.
I actually found the flash guts from these cameras in the "surplus" section of a store here in Canada (PrincessAuto) for $0.99. A 1.5 V battery and a relay should suffice to trigger them...and they're pretty bright.

Thanks for the input. There out to be enough electronic geniuses in our club to figure out a timer that your circuit could trigger an make the smoke generator run for about 5 min. or so.

Is this the generator you were talking about?

Yup that's it. They had them on sale a few years ago so I bought two. This is before the HenLong smoke units came out, these might be cheaper to integrate.
Zero toys has some interesting items also but I don't know how easy these would be to convert.
