Eeeeek!!!! Battery Problems

I forgot to switch of the power switch to my Sherman last night and now discovered that the battery is flat...registering approx 1.5 volts...My GO-PEAK charger won't recognise and charge the battery...A quick search in the garage revealed an old 500 ma charger from my model flying days, I've hooked this up to the Batt to raise the voltage to a point where the GO-Peak will recognise it...So far so good the Go-Peak is charging it now and all seems fine...I'm unfamiliar with Ni-MH Battery packs and the long term effects of virtually flattening them...Do you think I've harmed them in any way.

Sometimes when you flatten a battery pack one of the cells can reverse it's polarity

I heard of the reversing polarity thing. guy in regina said he jumped it using a car battery. wouldn't recommend it.

yes I have used the "Jumping" thing on the dead or backward cell and it did work BUT the cell can fail at anytime. We called it "Son- of -a- B*tching" because that was the amount of time we had the power applied (the time to say it). First we checked all the cells in the pack with a volt meter any that weren't up to 1.2 volts we "Jumped" those cells then re-tested the voltage. If we got the 1.2 volt reading then we just charged the pack as usual. BUT I say again the cell could fail at anytime. And a !!!WARNING!!! the cell could explode as well it will be !!!!!!YOUR DECISION!!!!!! to revive the cell
