well this is what i can find about the M29 weasel: it is the 24th addition to the M series of american army vehicles. its amphibious and weighs in at 1/2 a ton. it has a cruising range of 136 miles on road and 89 in water. no standard armerment and can carry 12 troops at a squeeze. any additional info would be welcome even any links to past builds.

This is an M-29 Studebaker Weasel. It carries three (3) people in the rear seats but absolutely no more. The weasel was instigated by Churchill to be used for a raid on heavy water plants in Norway and devoloped by Studebaker. The raid never took place, but the weasel in the 29 or full amphib mode as M-29c with front and rear pods was so sucessessful that is was used throughout the ETO, PTO and also korea. It was underpowered buy a 69 hp Studebaker commander 4 cylinder engine and had the same shifting pattern as the jeep. There was no parking brake, which made it very uncomfortable driving on hills and was the only vehicle in the US inventory where a driver could check the oil while sitting in the driver's seat. It's great driving in deep sand, swamps, mud and snow, but very hard to steer and very uncomfortable on hardstand or a street. With 20 inch tracks and 1.6 psi, nothing will stop, it and they are great in deep snow. Photos of the one I had.

neat!! kinda like a brengun carrier.. but more exposed.. still neat... I love it:D

http://img91.exs.cx/img91/136/bren5.jpg with these you could sit down lower and it could withstand small arms fire thats about it, but they did come in lots of diffrent models.. MG carrier, mortor, inf, anti tank.. so on....

Ford made a US version of the Bren, longer and heavier T-16. 4 road wheels to the Bren's 3. I rebuilt mine as a tank killer.

It was nice and I was clocked at 34 mph cross country. That baby would fly. But the downside was I had to have a trailer and a truck to take it anywhere except for driving it 8 miles into Ft Jackson and back home. Had a 12 ga shotgun subcaliber to fire black power blanks. Sold it for an M-29 Weasel, which was not all that great if you don't have a lot of snow.
