dual battery system..?
hi..has anyone used 2 batteries in a tank, one to power the motors and turret maybe and the second battery to power aux things like a couple of fans and the smoke system..??
just wondered.. not much wiring knowledge have i, but would it be really complicated..? rgds stuart |
RE: dual battery system..?
I've got two in a few tanks a few with 1 large pack. Go with the 1 large pack3300 MA plus unless you need the weight. The simpler the better!

RE: dual battery system..?
If you do a search for Kabul Tanker or Swathdiver's Tiger I builds, you'll find some dual battery setups. They run them in parallel, making them essentially one big battery to run everything.

cheers guys..as i said, i'm not very electrically minded but its something i may do in a little while when i've a bit more experience..?;):)
will check out those threads again... rgds stuart |

Check Here's my wiring diagram. Just make sure your battery charger can handle the MAH of the batteries as you'll want to charge them together. I discovered much to my dismay that my Dura Trax Piranha can only handle 5000mah. The MRC Super Brains can charge 2 separate batteries at once and 14000mah.

RE: dual battery system..?
Here is a two battery system that is wired a little different, more of a switch board idea! http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_67..._1/key_/tm.htm The Blitz |
RE: dual battery system..?
Which MRC super brain were you looking at? I was interested in the 989, which will handle almost 20000 mAh batteries, but it only does one battery at a time (5 amp/hr charge rate, if I remember correctly). I didn't notice any that do 14000mAh and two batteries.

The 977.

RE: dual battery system..?
I saw that one but it had two things that I noticed, particularly if you're going to run dual 5000 mAh batteries. It seems like it's capacity is a little low for dual 5000s (8000 mAh spec'd). Also, if you're running two batteries wouldn't that be a 12-cell battery (977 spec'd to charge 1-8 cells)? Or, because you're running 2x 6-cell batteries in parallel it just looks like one big 6-cell battery to the charger?
Specs pulled from here: [link=http://www.modelrectifier.com/resources/batterychargers/charger%20features_03_07.pdf]MRC Super Brain Charger Features[/link] I like the dual battery charge setup, though. :D |
