Tiger Hatch ?

Just got my metal Working Ammo Loading/Escape Hatch from Tank Zone for my Tamiya Tiger 1. It came with out instructions. Has any one installed this before and have instructions. Or can you tell me how it is supposed to operate. There is the hatch with a sliding bar a pin that goes in the middle of the bar which is slotted and two inside handles.

Thanks, Richard

Still trying to figure out how it is supposed to operate or does it? I know I'm not the only one who has tried to install or have installed this hatch. Don't be shy I could use some help.

Thanks!

Hi Richard, I have not done a Tiger I hatch, but have done many other tank hatches from scratch to purchased upgrade ones. If you can show us a picture for your hatch kit, maybe someone will be able to give you a starting point at least. I have found that very few of the upgrades I've used came with instructions and it can be a challenge to figure it out, but if we see the parts your using, someone will be able to help.

Thanks, for the pics, the hinge looks simple to do, it looks like you need to flip the hinge over so the two small pins are on the bottom, drill two matching holes in the hull to help hold it in place, I have always had to do some filing to make the hinges swing smoothly. The parts for the inside may only be cosmetic and not made to operate but could if you want to take the time to do it. Like I said don't have the Tiger I so the may or may not be helping you at all, but someone will now jump in and correct me I'm sure.:D

Here are the model, the measured drawing and the real thing.
Hope it helps

Thanks for the help and photos. From what I see is that the hatch is only operational from inside. To do that I would always have to remove the top of the turret to access it. So I guess it its operational like the real one, but not practical for models
Again thanks a lot for the help.

Charlie, How long did it take for you to get that from tankzone? I need to order some things that only they have in stock, but I have heard some real horror stories about them.....

RE: Tiger Hatch ?

It took about a month and a half and several e-mails. The hold up they said was they were out of stock on two of the parts. They wanted to send all at once. I sent Kin a nice e-mail about how he could of informed me. Also how they are more exspesive then any other parts place I have bought from and have one of the poorest customer relations for those prices. This is what he said;

Your order is on its way. We were short of the M4 parts but we managed to get some for backorders.
I am very sorry for the delay. We just did not appreciate the demand for some of the new parts.
We do our best to provide good customer service. We have grown to the point where we need to peg back our range of products and focus on those where we really add value.
I appreciate your feedback. We will take it on board and maybe not try to do too much too quickly.

Kind regards
Kin

So I guess I will try them again.
