which speed 400
Hi guys just a quick question have seen on forum some of you fit speed 400 motors my question is which ones i have seen them at 6volts and 7.2volts which motor has the best torque and will the boards take bigger motors if a fan is fitted 480? or even 540?
regards pete |
RE: which speed 400
400 is already pushing it, hence the need for better cooling. Bigger is really out of the question, they just weren't designed for bigger motors. HL's run on 7.2, so you'll be better off with those, but either will work.

RE: which speed 400
O.K. Cheers wacky wasnt sure if there was a big differance between the 6volt and 7.2volt motor so i will go on price whichever i can get the cheapest on the evilbay that way can spend more on other things did here of someone with 480s in but dont no how many boards he has gone through so will be conservative and go for 400s have fan ready to install i got 10 for £10 OFF THE EVIL PLACE enough to put fans in all my tanks and make home made smoke units for them. once again thank you

RE: which speed 400
Hi 971,
The difference between the speed 400 6v and 7.2v is that the 6v is a hotter motor and will draw more current, less torque but higher rpm's. The 7.2v is softer in that it will withstand higher voltage and current draw and thus more torque output, albeit at slower rpm's.....used to use these motors a lot in electric flight before it all went brushless...... RE: which speed 400
hi capt ok its got to be 7.2volt because i want torque thanks for input this has been a little eye openner didnt think there would be such a big differance so it 7.2 for me once again thank you for the info

RE: which speed 400
Good someone else with experience with these motors! Since the El Mod electronics only feed 5.5 volts to the motors which would be better still? The 6v or 7.2v Speed400?
|
RE: which speed 400
well, I ran either 380 or 400 on dmd box. Elmode draws less current ..that s true, tehrefore less power. If you want more power and torque, or you need to do is increase the amps...but I dnt know with HLS....so the critical factor here is AMPS = amount of fuel going thru your engine taht gives you power.

RE: which speed 400
Hi guys are we waiting for one of them electromagians to sort this out

RE: which speed 400
Well I think I'll get the Jamara 480 HS BB motors and run them with the stock boards and El Mod with the Afterburner and see what happens.

RE: which speed 400
;)Hi Guys,
I would say stick with the 400 7.2v motors as we all want torque really and speed is secondary......(want the rpm's though when spinning a small propeller so I used to use the 6v motor in electric flight)...........the jamara 480 motor is again a great motor and is quite hot......was good for pulling 15 amps comfortable in electric flight, but not too sure if it will overload the tank electronics.......need to be careful here and measure the current draw on a battery load in your tank before hooking up........... Tally ho CaptB |
RE: which speed 400
Hi guys dose anyone know how much power the rx13&rx14 boards can handle without going bang try to keep it simple electronics and me dont speak same language

ORIGINAL: 971wright Hi guys dose anyone know how much power the rx13&rx14 boards can handle without going bang try to keep it simple electronics and me dont speak same language regards pete 2 to 3 amps max and 3 amps is pushing it, and of course that is depending on the cooling that you add! RE: which speed 400
Thanks blitz so 3 amps if fan installed ok gives me something to work from but lower would be better
regards pete |
RE: which speed 400
the older boards were 3 amps, the newer ones 5, don't know about the RX14s.

RE: which speed 400
ORIGINAL: swathy the older boards were 3 amps, the newer ones 5, don't know about the RX14s. SwathDiver is correct I have got a good look at the new boards Lookin over a Bad Ass Pershing that I am getting ready to turn into a Killer with Darkith's Battle System custom Blitz installed! Anyway 5 AMPS easy WOW the new boards buss line is much better, the PC board is of better quality! Again though it is time to start reconnecting that ground wire, it is needed to bleed off the higher Capacitance build up and for all of the amps (Current, like a stream, think water, rivers)needed to run the board is at its best performance with an Excellent Ground plain! ** Ive already got the Tank apart but if someone can get me their motor voltage and amperage from a Pershing or Bulldog, I can get the corresponding data after my upgrades are complete! RE: which speed 400
Hi Guys I have a panzerIII with rx14 board+fan fitted it has full metal upgrades fitted+ a few extra metal bits schurzen at the moment it has a standard metal gearbox i intend to fit a 3:1 reduction in im looking at getting more torque to help because of the weight this needs a very high torque drive at the moment it runs at scale speed but slows alot on inclines so along with the reduction in gears I need a high torque motor but dont want to be changing the boards everytime I take it out rx14s are not easy to find. Is the 7.2v speed 400 the best or is it something else .

RE: which speed 400
swathdiver thanks for the input ive made my mind up put an order in for speed 400 7.2volt need the torque the only time i give my tanks full boot is up hills so i think it will be o.k. and if it blows the board will look for another type of motor if not alls well thank you everyone for input this is one of the topics that will always be open for debate untill someone finds the full answer.
best regards pete |
RE: which speed 400
I don't think you'll blow the board with the 3-1 gearbox, I haven't blown the one in my Walker and you've seen me push the kids around on their bikes with it.
|
RE: which speed 400
O.K. Thanks swathdiver seen the video of you pushing the kids the kids didnt know what setup you had if it will puss a child on a bike it should do everything i want fingers crossed once again would like to thank everyone for the input.
best regards pete |
