Who would like to see Tamiya make an Abrams? Let them know there are people who would like this tank and would be willing to purchase it!. It would be nice but unlikely. I think Krauss-Maffei Wegmann paid part of the cost to produce the model. The Gearbox from Leo, suspension system and turret setup can be re used. All other parts would have to be new. They also need to have different sound effects for the DMD since it is a gas turbine.

I vote YES and would like to build a hardcore Abrams with a functioning "Full Width Mine Plow/Combat Dozer Blade Package". Hint, hint Tamiya.

Maybe, now is a good time to add some depth to an already great Tamiya rc tank product line.

Perhaps, Tamiya marketeers and product designers might want to dust off their copy of "Jane's Tank Recognition Guide" and explore developing a "complete product line" of modern MBTs manufactured by different nations from around the world, as they have done for WWII Armor.

As to the WWII and Korean Era Shermans, perhaps Tamiya would consider it a "marketing franchise" unto itself and offer a complete line of after market Tamiya "HOP-UP" Kits (at reasonable prices) to "plus" the outstanding 56014 Sherman RC 1/16 Scale Kit. The Sherman Hop-Ups could include suspension kit alternatives, as well as hull and turret options, pioneer tool kits, march gear, etc, to better model and create early, mid and late variants plus Tank Destroyer variants.

Hopefully, more great modern era armor kits will be released by Tamiya and at this point, as a historical modeler, I have pretty much satisfied my interest in WWII 1/16 scale armor.

I would like a Challenger 2.:D Would be happy with an Abrams if Tamiya puts out another modern era tank.

I wish they would put out something in WW2 era that was not always German also we need some allied Armour. [&o]

Although I think the Chally 2 is much better looking than an Abrams, either one would be my first adventure into modern armor.

But a VVSS chassis would be 'off the charts' as far as the best seller yet for Tamiya.

yes abrams would be nice also a challanger 2 or for ww2 a m18 hellcat tank destroyer I have a m26 pershing on its way would look nice to have the m18 hellcat to go with it .

One of the SCAT top modelers has a 1/16 scale Chafee scratch built full option tank under construction. It is awesome and accurate. Give him a call Tamiya. Find him through SCAT. You've got a least one customer already in line. LOL.

If you have the M1A1/2 then the natural opponent would be the T-55, T-62 and T-72

The Modern T-series of Russian made tanks are represented in many modern conflicts and while maybe not popular in the West, the rest of the world would love to model some variant that seems as wide open as the T-34 variants.

If Tamiya does modern T-XX variants, then the demand for M1A1/2 would rise substaintially.

The fun of Tamiya WWII rc tanks is TBU battling: Underdog Sherman vs all the Axis tanks.

Abrams (plus M60/48), Challenger, Merkava, Leclerc and of course the existing Leopard vs T-90, T-80, T-64, T-72, T-62, T-55/54: Any 2 opposites, past the Leopard, would make a fine start for a new 1/16 scale rc main battle tank product line. Plus there would be the opportunity to model the MBTs in the colors of numerous nations.

Similar Abrams tank content was posted at "rc tank hq" back in January and the rumor is that the Abrams is a Tamiya management favorite. Over the last few years a Marine Corp. Abrams has been a star demonstration display at TamiyaCon and a real Tamiya favorite.

Yeah the T62 is sexier than the T55 - i'd have one of those definately.

But sign me up for an M1A2 - we all love German tanks but a little variety wouldn't hurt.

Wow pcomm1 nice collection of Armour. I really like your Sherman. They are all great the Tiger S33 must be the way the real S33 looked unlike mine that I bought off Ebay.

The Kursk Tigers have good b/w photo reference in the book Tigers in Combat Vol I. It is my 3rd build, but the paint color may not be all that accurate. I had read the “Operation Citadel” 2nd SS Panzer Division Tiger's where tinted more of a green color, but probably not this model's green. I have had this Tiger on ebay more than once, but never any takers, at least not against the asking price. LOL

But I am ready for modern armor now. Hopefully a more rugged Abrams kit than the Leopard, which is basically a display model gone rc, unless you spend a fortune on after market parts to make the Leo a durable backyard TBU runner.

I would prefer an M1A1 (HA) over the M1A2, for the simple fact that no M1A2s saw actual combat during OIF. They're in-country after the Saddam Regime capitulated, but it was M1A1s that raced from Kuwait to Baghdad.

Plus the M1A2s are being phased out now, with plans to re-build them to SEP standards.

Your right. Sounds like a need for Tamiya to offer Abrams Hop-UP kits to build an appropriate campaign variant plus road march gear and a multi-figure tanker set.
