Berge Tiger
 

Here is the newest member of my tank force a Berge tiger , that I bought. It is the old none S&S one will be upgrading it with the guts from a pershing junker *wish me luck;)*that I bought from Kapowee.

Tank was made by a gentleman that goes by KAPOOT.

Nice:) Finally a variation that is a bit different and usefull. Trust all the parts are scratch made?

yes he made it all from scratch. I don't think it is a recovery vehicle though ,from what I understand only one was ever seen and it was more than likely used to place explosive charges against objects while under fire.
Went to put the pershing board into it and noticed a charred area on the board so I stopped.Not sure if i should continue i have run the board while in the pershing lower hull and it worked no idea if the turret worked or not as it was not attached at the time.

Just to make sure no miss understanding. I did NOT make the tank just purchased it as seen. A gentleman that goes by the name of KAPOOT made this tank.

Just to clarify - the Bergetiger is commonly mistaken as a recovery tank, but its really a charge-laying/demolitions vehicle. The winch on top was only good for up to 10t, hardly enough for tank recovery :D

Yea-hey I think BergeTiger although a nice idea can't be confirmed. Most contemporary thought is that it was in fact a DCL - demolition charge layer. The crane isn't thought to be much useful beyond a ton or so. All speculation as nobdy seems to know for sure. This revelation was a major bummer for me as I wanted to build what I originally thought to be a BergeTiger also. I'll have to settle for a BergePanther, yet another brilliant choice as Panthers were so fragile and complicated themselves, but I like them anyway...

I suppose it could have been a BierTiger; a rare Tiger converted for offloading beer to the troops on holiday...they needed a AFV with the robustness of a Tiger to defend the beer against combat weary troops wanting refills...That's also why it retained secondary armament... to quell beer fueled carousing and brawls...

It's have to be loaded with a pump and sray cannon, not a winch. Gotta be able to refill those bier tankards at range, ya now.

Knew a guy who had working water cannons on one of the Graupner fire boats, and he used to squirt spectators, until club members found out he was pumping water from the pond, and it was home to a flock (flock?) of ducks. They ordered him to cease that tactic until he put in an onboard reservoir for ~clean~ water.

But I'd rather have soda in the tanks than beer... never got used to the yeasty taste/smell... sorry guys (shrug)

A 76mm gun is a fine beer loading device (covertly).:D We were once unfortunately observed by our CO and after loading 16 bottles of fine Asahi Beer into the gun and leaving the town proper, were stopped by same and ordered to load a blank and take an "enemy emplacement" under fire.[X(] The gun actually recoiled about an inch. [:-] We then learned that the 76mm gun is a marvelous weapon for spraying foam over the countryside and "killing" the "enemy "by getting them drunk. :eek: Also made sitting down painfull for a while. [:@]

pattoncommander that reminded me of a story my brother told me when he was on his advanced gunner course with the Lord Strathcona Horse tank regiment. He said they had been sucking a few back while waiting their turn to pass in review and to hide the bottles they put them in the breach of the gun. then they closed the breach and elevated the gun. Then they proceeded to follow the procession in review. As they passed the reviewing stand they were required to turn the turret and depress the gun as a salute. You can guess what happened..... yup the bottles vibrated down the barrel and started to come out the muzzle and fall and bust on the parade square.... he said boy did they catch hell
