Tank projects
 

Here are a couple of tank projects i have done, kinda average compared to what i have seen some of you do. All based on Heng Long chassis. In the first two photos the, Tam. full option (TFO) equipped, JP required significant hull changes to bring it into scale., in fact by time i was finished it was pretty much a scratch build instead of a kit bash. The JP was finished just before Tamiya released their JP. The second set is a SU-76i inspired by another members post it uses the Darkith/ RCTANKwars battle system, the commander is still getting his make up on so we await his appearance.. the last two photos are a simple TFO equipped Pnzr III. Really nice website neat little buildings and bridges! You know I go up to Washington every other summer at least! I will have to check in and time it with a Tank Battle!!!

Also I designed the DBU to sit lower is there any reason you have them so high? If they are seated to the bottom of the housing they are within the Danville specification!

Just a thought!

Hey Blitz thanks for the props. The photos on the web site are in San Jose and Livermore. I have a home in San Jose as well as Port Angeles. There is a sub floor in the fighting compartment that mounts the elevation motor assy. That is what forced the slighly higer mounting of the DBU. Perhaps when I have the time for mods I will lower it a bit, even though it is still lower overall then a TBU in a Pnzr III. I really am not a stickler about Danville standards. I look at this as fun for big boys with expensive toys. My club and I have our battles, BS, drink beer eat hot dogs, bark at the moon and just enjoy ourselves without breaking out the calipers and scales whenever someone shows up with a tank to fight. I understand the whys and wherefores of standardizations for those who want to be serious competetors. but we are not in this to be the most competative team just have a good time.

Yes, I like your mission statement and I like the FUN emphasis, I just want to reassure all the purist that I do keep the specification in mind when I make the apple for the competitive types! Many guys are buying this to battle against a mostly Tamiya crowd! I have my first system in Italy getting ready to make its first tank battle there!

Hopefully I will have my club site up by the end of the year and I am very much aligned to your mission statement in how we run the club! I do also want to have an open class where driving through water anti-tank guns half tracks, IR set up to disable a bridge, and other vehicles are accepted and encourage for certain battles!

Ah something tells me that there is dirt being dug real soon in the Northwest for the ultimate outdoor battle field, and a sister club of Kelly's heros is starting![8D]

Those are some nice tanks you have there Kclank. Your welded on hoops are someting my Stug is missing. I'll have to get after that.

YHR those hoops should only be attempted by Master craftsmen. They consist of 1" length of solder bent to shape and glued to the tank. lol
