Tiger Turret Fix

Anyone have a fix for the Tamiya Tiger I turret rotation besides wrapping tie wraps around the gearbox.

Look for things obstructing the turret traverse. My tiger works fine, and is stock. I had to bundle the wires just right, but it works every time. If you're stuck, take the deck off (with the turret still on it) and traverse while watching the bottom side, and observe what stops the traverse. Works pretty good for me, and its the first thing I do for the occasional stuck turret.

ssocr's fix will work for some problems, but not all. If the clutch gear is slipping, you can replace it with a solid gear, or try a few drops of super glue as shown:

Scroll down and check out pcom1's post about the solid gear

I still do not get it. Do I have to put some drops of glue on the flat surface of the clutch gear? Or on the teeth?

Eugene!!! not on the teeth!! on the clutch. And as they said, make sure the wires are bundled correctly..as the traverse mech gets some use, the clutch will slip more, so the acc on the actual clutch does the job...let it cure for a good half hour after applicaiton though.

Just like gluing a HL plastic gearbox's slipper, only smaller...

I did a [link=http://members.iinet.net.au/~wackywheelz/tanks/guides/clutchmod/]guide[/link] for modifying them, and the basic idea remains - glue the inner gear solidly into the outer gear, disabling the ability to slip/clutch under strain.

Now I see the clutch. I just took a look at mine. On the pics it was impossible to see it!

I never had problems with my Tiger I, but my Panther are having turret rotation issues. Maybe this will solve it. :)

Yep, it's the clutch gear alright. That is a bad design. It's a wonder that the turret is able to rotate at all!

Hey pcom1, is there a part # on that blue or yellow gear. The only # I could come up with was #72005 but its a complete gearbox.
