What to do?

Ok, i have this old HL non s+s tiger 1, and is in pritty bad nick - if you are afraid of wrecked tanks ... please stop reading now!!

[ul][*]the gun barel is smashed due to friends clumsey driving into a wall at full speed :([*]every single screw is taken out :([*]some of the detailing is broken :([*]the electorics are short circuited due to driving through water:([*]the inside of the beggining of the BB gun inside is broke:([*]the battery life is about 10 mins:([*]the drivers hatch is snapped off:([*]the drivers and loaders hatch handels and broken off:([*]half the cables that probably are not short circuited are ripped in half:([*]and pritty much everything else is scratched and broken:(
[/ul]

so here is my dilema, i dont know what to do with it, i could convert it into a Strumtiger to get rid of all the turret problems, i could use it as bits, i could resore it to its former glory, i could upgrade it to an s+s, i could use it as a destroyed wreck in IR battles ... and so many other things!
so before i do anything to it, i thought that i would ask you guys for your proffesional opinion on what to do with this mess!

cheers guys and look forward to hearing from you!:D:D;)[8D]:D

RE: What to do?

Rebuild it!

Take lots of before, during and after pictures!

Like restoring a '65 Mustang from a junkyard, you'll get a level of satisfaction rebuilding the tank to better then new that you'll be hard pressed to experience anywhere else.

Ohh, once it's done, don't let anyone else drive it without giving you their wallet first! :D

RE: What to do?

I'd take out all useable parts left then use it as a prop/extra/target and blow it to bits in a video/movie :D

I agree, rebuild it. Nothing is better than the satisfaction of giving it the the time and attention only a tanker can give it.
Once rebuilt, you can charge in battle and have glorious victory after victory. Have courage and defy the enemy and crush him under your tracks and sing songs of battle and courage and victory. QUA pLAA !!!

I agree... rebuild it. I just blew my first board and picked up a plastic gear S&S Tiger from Raidentech planning on using the new one and keeping the old one as a parts tank - right! Didn't work out quite that way. I just ordered/received all the parts I need to get it back up and running and now I have two tanks! :D.

It's a good way to learn how they work and how the wiring is run, etc. so it will be good experience for when an accident occurs. Plus, the satisfaction and sense of accomplishment that comes when you get her back to life. You know, that warm feeling a guy gets when he cuts some wires, heats up a little solder, pushes the ignition button and fires up four pounds of mechanized death and everything works... sorry, got a little carried away there - you know what I mean!

That cat's seen the wars!

It sounds like you kept driving it into the ground until it would drive no more! Did all this happen in one outing? Or is it systematic abuse? :P

RE: What to do?

I vote for rebuild. I am currently restoring a Tiger 1 myselfe and it is real nice. Can't wait until it is running strong again :)
It sure sounds like you have to spent alot on spare parts and dedicate some time, but when you are done and manovering the tank again you will feel it is worth it. I guess you will like it more than ever and maybe you will not drive it so hard anymore hehe

Building a stürmtiger also sounds nice, but I still say rebuild. Anyhow, I wish you good luck!

RE: What to do?

hi
when you say the drivers hatch has snapped, do you mean the commanders hatch?
If so I've got a complete cupola you can have.
Also check out "welsh dragon models" on e-bay. I've brought alot of spares off them and had brilliant service.

RE: What to do?

ok thanks mate! i will have a look at the ebay thing! yes, sorry i did mean the commanders hatch, i still have the hatch door but the pivot is broken! i can probably fix it though, and after complition i will probably equip the tank with the DBC / DBU, so if i cant get the hinge to work then i will glue it open! cheers!

RE: What to do?

Since it's a non S&S tank, rebuilding it to S&S will cost you more than a new tank. I would rather keep it as a spare for tracks, details, etc., buy a new S&S Tiger and work on detailing, painting and weathering it.
