Hi everyone, have just joined. I own a HL Tiger 1 ( early ), a HL PZKPFW III and a trumpeter T34/85. Here's a pic of my PZKPFW III in winter cammo with schurzen. Anyone know of a UK retailer that supplies good quality 1/16 stowage?

That's one nice looking panzer. I agree with wackywheelz, I've delt with both of the mentioned companies and had no problems.

Also give Tanks and Trolls site a visit, bulldog will show you a good range of
ww2 bits and bobs including tools.

If you have the panzer grey base tank you are half way there already.
The first stage is a matt black colour wash to highlight details. Thin the matt black about 20%/80%. That's 80% thinners by the way. Take a soft brush and paint the whole tank with that mixture. Leave for 24 hours and the thinners will evaporate leaving the matt black in all the recessess. (hinges, engine covers etc)
Now lock yourself away for a few hours cos this bit takes a while.
If you have done dry brushing before you don't need to read this otherwise.........
Slightly thin some matt white (about 20% thinners) Use a short stiff brush with very little matt white on it, wipe of any excess on some newspaper until it seems there is no paint on the brush.
Find a nice flat panel to start on (turret roof) and apply the paint using a circular scrubing motion. Don't worry if you can see through the matt white, you are going to repeat this process. Work the paint out towards the edges of the panel leaving a few millimetres unpainted at the edges. Do this to the whole turret and upper hull. When the paint has dried thoroughly do the matt white again. You are trying to achieve a solid matt white in the central area of each panel with a fading effect towards the edges.
The paint issued to the germans for winter cammo was water based, so as you can imagine in the russian winter it didn't take long for the paint to be washed off exposed areas.
Leave the paint to dry for 24 hours.
Now make a mixture 70% panzer grey, 10% matt black, 20% thinners. Using the same dry brush technique apply this mixture to the unpainted edges of the turret and hull and any areas that would be subject to excessive use. Front hull, rear decking, commanders hatches and cupola, etc. Again leave to dry for 24 hours.
At this point you should have a fairly realistic winter cammo job which should only need weathering. Good luck, and be patient.
