Decals Question
Hi Guys
I was wondering if anybody here might know of a site that I could find 1/16 scale decals for tanks that I could print out on decal paper? im looking for decals for tigers, panthers, panzer III and a pershing. Thanks for any help guys Jeremy |
RE: Decals Question
The problem with makeing your own decals is if you want white you have to use white decal film then cut out each letter number etc. It's much simpler to just buy pre-printed decals for your tanks. Saves you alot of hassle and agrivation

RE: Decals Question
yeah I thought that too, might be easier to buy them;) where would I find a decal set? order from Tamiya maybe?
|
RE: Decals Question
Yes, order from Tamiya or from the AAF Tank Museum (I cannot recall the name of the contact there but she can get Tamiya parts at a great savings).
http://www.aaftankmuseum.com/RC-Tank-Parts.htm Also Peddinghaus is well represented in its line of 1/16 decals. They look to be the genuine Tamiya article if not copies. http://www.peddinghaus-decals.de/ |

http://creepingdeathrc.netfirms.com
They have 1/16 decal sheets for German,US, & British tanks + free global shipping. |
RE: Decals Question
Thank you! I've been looking for that Peddinghaus site for a while.

RE: Decals Question
Hi Jeremy,
I just bought some laser decal paper with a clear background and printed mine. Just Google laser decal paper. Chris |
RE: Decals Question
As previously mentioned Peddinghaus offers a very nice selection of 1/16 decals. Archer dry transfers are also great, but the selection in 1/16 is pretty limited compared to Peddinghaus.

RE: Decals Question
Have looked at the Creeping Death set of U.S. decals but the "sample image" is a bit disconcerting. Looks like a little bit of everything thrown in together; a lot of full-color and enlarged infantry and armor unit insignia, several cartoonish animal graphics and the like but not nearly enough national insignia and stencil type numbers and letters "to do several 1/16th tanks" as the ad says. I'm sure there's enough decals on the 1 1/2 sheets they give you to plaster over a multitude of 1/16 Sherman and Pershings but I don't think it is possible to do each tank in an authentic manner befitting the WWII era.
I know it sounds like a gripe in the wrong direction (I should contact Creeping Death directly) but have any of you obtained a set of these decals and can comment on what you actually get? |
RE: Decals Question
Awww come on, make stencils and paint them on! The only thing I make decals for are the characters and some unit emblems. If my hand was steadier I'd paint those too!

RE: Decals Question
I concur, Peddinghaus is a good place for decals. I've used then over a dozen times with my tanks

RE: Decals Question
Stars or national insignia for American tanks is easy but German stuff, especially the black & white balkenkreuz requires one to have some god-like skills and a steady hand.
I'd be the first one to advocate stencils, in fact I think I did some time back with a few sources for drafting-type star templates.
