I was just wondering if the HL Bulldog was still the best runner or if the Panzer III's, IV's or the Stug 3 have surpassed it. I am looking to buy my first HL to run in my lawn 100% of the time. Thanks for your input.

I have both the Bulldog and the PzIII (Ausf L). Both have all plastic (tracks, gears, etc). In that setup, the Bulldog is better and would be even better with a little weight in the front end and spring upgrades in the backend. The PzIII runs well, but its narrower chassis and tracks set it at a disadvantage compared to the Bulldog. However, it is more nimble and quicker on pavement and hard dirt than the Bulldog.

Thanks for that input. I have 6 hard surface tanks and NEED a grass crawler for my main machine.

A GRASS crawler?

You might want top look at getting a Kyosho Blizzard, and crafting an APC body for it. with tracks twice as wide as any of the German tanks, it can move over grass, loose sand, and especially snow of many types.

Tanks are cross-country machines, even from inception. They should all be grass, sand, dirt and road crawlers. ;):D

My VsTank's run in the grass when it's mowed, but they tend to get grass wrapped in the wheels. The Leo really runs until it tears the plastic sprockets apart and the Tiger runs great (no grass, no breakage), but is too slow to enjoy. I love my 6 VsTank's for neighborhood battles in the culdesac and their amazing detail & quality. Since I only run in the suburbs, I do not have any dirt or patchy grass to really play tank. Think lush green suburban lawns for miles around, even at the parks and you will see why I need a larger beast to go offroading. I know the Pershing & Bulldogs were the best grass tanks back in March and the Bulldog chews less grass, but I wanted to see if that was still the case. My ultimate goal is to either put tracks and R/C gear on my lawnmower or have a tank/rover big enough to push it like a mine clearer.

I wonder if they still sell the old non-powered roller mowers, that wouldn't take as much to push and would really look like a mine roller. I bet a beefed up 1/9th would push it, clearing the doggie mines for the troops behind. :D

Got it...the VS tanks are smaller scale. I've seen those and their size and weight would limit their terrain some. [8D]

I built this Sturmtiger in 1/6 scale to compete in rctankcombat (www.rctankcombat.com). I still don't have the paintball gun mounted, but hopefully soon. It already weighs in at around 100lbs.

i run both my pershing and all 4 of my tigers through the grass with no problems same goes for all my Vs tanks 1 leopard 2 1 abrams and 2 tigers and 2 T-72

what would you guys rate better the bulldog or the pershing as a better offroader. the bulldog is pretty good on grass, i thought. does the pershing have any advantages over the bulldog?

I guess I forgot to mention that 80% of my lawn consists of hills, this is where the VsTanks tend to suffer. Also, the guy who owned the house before me did no maintenance on the yard, so the lawn has a lot of hidden potholes. I spend half my time in reverse with the VsTanks because of this. The Vs Tiger cruises along just fine, but man is it slow. I need a big heavy beast to patrol the yard properly and I've seen plenty of HL videos demonstrating their ability to run in the thick grass while acting like a tank. It looks like the Bulldog is what I need, but I might just buy a panzer and toss the guts into a static 1/16 FOV Bradley I have laying around. BullDog is still the top Dog as far as conquering terrain is concerned. It is still better then even the Pershing because it's drive sprocket is higher up.

If you get one, be sure to check out my build and that of the other guys who've modified theirs to be real knock around tanks. Mine has more powerful motors, metal tracks, cooling fan, and beefed up springs. Check out the YouTube videos of it pushing the kids around to get an idea of the power and tractive effort they can have.
