New Problem for me

Hey guys- it feels like its been a year since I have had the opportunity to do anything with my Tiger! I am SO VERY excited to see the Jagdpanther! Anyway, I had taken my Tiger and broke it down to parade rest to work on rear hatches. Then things in life got hectic. Now I'm putting everything back together and when I turn it on, the lights flash (and I hear a tick in the sound with every light flash- can't recall if thats normal or not) but thats as far as we get. Nothing I do with the controller makes anything work. Is there anything that I can check to determine where my problem may be? I did a little soldering on the power switch itself- but the switch seems to work ok. The only other thing that is different is that I left out the smoke assembly- don't care for it. I tried hooking it back up, but that didn't seem to change anything. Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

Its your crystals loose,or damaged, try sperading the legs for better contact,,,, or a bad receiver board!

lol blitzkrieg is right, try the crystal first.. Something so simple can cause exactly what you're describing.. I wonder how many boards were ripped out for nothing when it was really just a bad connection in the crystal socket

Alright that makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever....I tried the crystal trick. Nothing. I even swapped out the receiver board as I had one from a tank I am using for parts. Still nothing. I ran out to the garage, grabbed all three radio controllers and crystal sets that I have to start some crystal swapping. What ends up working is the TX 7.145 crystal in the remote and the RX 27.145 crystal in the tank. Am I super stupid, or are those numers NOT THE SAME??? If someone could explain that one, that would be awesome. But bottom line- this bad boys operational again!!!:)

like i said before, in all my 20+ years of being into R/C i have never seen such weird things happen like I have seen the past couple weeks with the Heng Long tanks haha If I didn't know any better I would think they're playing pranks on us by designing circuitry that acts so quirky like these do.. But since they're cheap and not all of them act up, we'll put up with it since they're tanks do look nice and are a blast to tinker and battle with.. It's a labour of love that's for sure..

Your crystals are the same frequency. One is just missing a 2 in front of it.

You are having a problem somewhere between the receiver and the ESC. Have a good look at the three wire connection that is between the ESC and the receiver board. Turn the board over and try resoldering the connections on this three pin socket. One pin may not be making a good connection. Do the same on the receiver board, and then try it again.

You might want to check things with your transmitter as well. Is the light coming on? Sounds like the tank is waiting for a command to start up.

YHR is bang on about this.. Make sure to check this! I had this happen to me tonight during our tank battle session.. The plug from the receiver needed to be unplugged and plugged back in, wasn't making good contact.. If you do look closely at the boards they're full of cold solder joints.. I went through most of them on the rx14 but I still have to go through them on the receiver..

good luck
