What to do with wheels and sidepanels?
 

After having repainted the whole tank (see old thread where you guys didn't like my tank very much :) -> http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_8353941/tm.htm ), I am now quite satisfied. But I am not sure about what I should do with the wheels and skirts (sidepanels?). Blackwash? Weathering with what? Repaint?

If you would like to comment the rest of the paint job on the tank, please be kind... I don't think the german army can afford any more layers of paint on this tank, and it has to be driven also :)

Brother I think she looks good as is. Trust me I have the habit of going to far with the weathering. Subtle is best. It is much easier to add than to take away. Just remember the only person that has to be happy with it is you.

Atkleiv, I just finished the major part of my painting with just a few touchups left and my tank looks almost identical to yours. Last night, I had some mud splater on the skirts and it looked pretty realistic, but after looking at the gallery again, I decided I liked it without mud. So, I took some paint thinner to it and repainted with just a black wash. I like it better. I did keep the mud on the front and rear of the tank. I'll post some pictures soon. Your tank looks great, as long as your happy with it, thats all that matters.

Looks good to me! After all I'ts your tank, are you happy with it? If so that's what counts!

Funny thing is, you, timslocum and I have almost the same tanks hehe.
I dont think mud on the outside of the skirts is a good idea - unless you can find a picture of a real tiger with mud there and prove me wrong. So basically, its best to leave the skirts as they are. About 1/4 up to 1/3 of the front and rear lower hull may have mud - but in that case it would be good to have really heavy mud on the tracks and wheels should be well muddied as well.
As far as mine is concerned, I will probably go with medium-heavy sandy pigment dust on the running gear and lower hull where appropriate, and very very light on the whole vehicle.

Btw, dont forget to dull coat it if you havent.

Nothing at all wrong with your Tiger as you have it. Weathering is nice and the tow cables look very used, although they didn't always go back on the stowage locations "parade ready". Mud is always present on any tank, so if you want to to add some realism, you can always add boot "scuff" marks where the crew would be entering-exiting; around the front, turret sides, on spare track teeth etc. and places always used for a foot hold. Dry-brush some scratches along the sides...(almost no paint) to show that the tank has bullied its way through heavy underbrush. Looking good.

Of course I will remember the dull coat at the end :) It is probably best to go easy when I apply the dull coat? (it is in a spray can).
