Tim outstanding job and it looks really authentic. The TC hatch locks down about 45 degrees back, you just have it a little to straight.
Suggestion only; drill out the vision blocks in the TC cupola, cover them over with Micro Glaze.....from Micro-Mart. You just drag the solution over the hole and when it dries, it looks like glass....designed for model windows...works neat. Then addding periscopes, by using a thin strip on plexi mirror (get it as trash from any place that does bathrooms) cut it to match the scope mount like the gunner's
direct fire scope. File the rear 45 degrees and glue it on, cover with a flat sheet only, as the gunner's scope did not have a wire guard over it. Makes a really neat final touch, especially when you look at the tank with the gunner's scope looking right back at you. With the fine work you have done, it will really set your Pershing off.

Pattoncommander - Thanks for the compliment and the advice. I originally thought of drilling out the vision blocks, but a. I didnt want to risk messing up my tank and B. I saw a closeup that showed them as tinted dark green. I like them the way I did them for now. As for the periscopes, I think I know what your saying, I'll look into it further. Your Pershings look great. I didnt know my crew were twins.:D

Just some info, I was being a tight wad to I made my own tarp by "dying" some cloth(towel) with coffee. The rope is scale rope I had on the bench leftover from a tugboat project.

Im too unfamiliar with this tank to comment much. But your scopes look good - nice and clean. Patton's seem to have too much drilling damage, maybe better avoid that and keep them as they are. Maybe you can gloss coat them or something to give them a glassier feel, Im not sure, reproducing glass is a pain. There are also some semi-transparent paints for doing tail lights and such, if you can find a suitable color maybe paint a base coat of silver and top it with the semi-transp.
The cloth roll is great, but try to find thinner ropes - these are thicker than the tow cable on the back.
Looking great, cant wait to se it weathered!

Nice looking tank Tim. I don't know why but I always seem to think American armor looks better with little to no weathering. I kinda like that factory fresh look. But I feel the opposite about German or Russsian Armor. Wierd huh? Well either way I think it's going to be a good looking tank. I like the idea of using coffee to "dye" the cloth too.

Tim your twins actually have the entire family enlisted. My 5 Pershing variants, 4 Shermans, M-41 and a half track are all crewed by his family. They all look amazingly similar. Two are officers, but every family has black sheep. :D

Your pershing is coming along quite nicely! It reminded me of a few detailing areas i still need to attend to like the exhaust and tools.

leggeron, it was my fear of damaging my tank that kept me from drilling the vision block out. The pictures make them look a little "greener" than they appear in person. I found a closeup picture that shows the vision blocks as being tinted dark green. I mixed some gloss bright green with flat black and a smidge of silver.Maybe not perfect, but Im satisfied. The rope!! somehow I didnt notice how thick it was until you said something. I had it left over and I thought it looked alright when compared to the figures, so I went with it. I dig around and see if I can find some smaller stuff. Thanks for the compliments

Westdr, I feel the same way!! For some reason, I like my Pershing new looking , but I weathered my Tiger quite a bit. Im going to paint the tracks flat with shiny chevrons(where they make contact with the ground) and add mud to the lower body and some dust to the upper. Then, finally the good ole black wash. I used the coffee because it smells better than using a enamel wash.

nogoer, Im watching your Pershing closely. I'm not completely satisfied with the rust on my exhaust yet. My Tigers rusty exhaust looks better to me.
