Problem with New type Elmod System. Advice/Help needed

1 Attachment(s)
I have just installed the new type Elmod 4 CH Prop system into my HL Tiger. This is the latest Think Tank module, with the new sound blaster III stacked on the top.

The problem I have is that I have no response to any of the controls at the Transmitter.

I am using a brand new Futaba 4YF-FM40 4-CHANNEL 40 MHZ Transmitter with a Futaba RX R136F 6CH. receiver. I checked with elmod before purchasing it to make sure it was compatible with their system.

This is what has happened.

1 Switched on.
2 Green LED on, Red LED flashing on TT Module
3 Removed Jumper 6, Tracks/Chains move forward, the right Track/Chain quicker than the left, Green LED is on and the Red LED is still flashing.
4 Switched off
5 I attached the Receiver cable to the TT Module and its wires to the receiver.

Red/Black - power supply for the receiver (BEC)
Brown cable - Channel 1
Orange cable- Channel 2
Yellow cable - Channel 3
Green cable - Channel 4

Blue cable - channel 5 left unconnected.
Violet cable - channel 6 left unconnected

6 Connected the 8 pin Turret plug.
7 connected the Sound blaster III Volume control and speaker cables
8 Switched on
9 Green LED on, Red LED still flashing on TT Module. Solid Red LED on Sound blaster III Module
10 Absolutely no control functions working at the Transmitter.

As stated in the manual, I have connected a servo to the receiver ( This was connected to each of the 4 channels in turn) and this worked perfectly from the transmitter.

I am left with these conclusions. The Error - Red LED is blinking continuously, no valid signal from the receiver ?

Is the Transmitter and receiver compatible with the ELMOD System?

Is there a fault on the Think Tank Module and possibly the Sound Blaster III Module ?

These are the only two answers I can come up with.

I tried another servo (Futaba) with power from the Think Tank Module black/red wire through the receiver and it worked fine on all 4 channels. Its got to be a problem with the board not recognizing the Transmitter and receiver. Either a faulty board or non compatibility with the Radio gear.

Has anybody out there had a problem with the compatibility of the Futaba 4YF-FM40 4-CHANNEL 40 MHZ Transmitter and a Futaba RX R136F 6CH. receiver, when trying to use it with the elmod system ?

So, is it a faulty Elmod Think Tank module/ sound blaster III module or is the Radio gear the problem. ?

Thanks.

I may be way wrong here but are you sure your Skysport is 40 Mhz. Iv'e only seen them either 72 high or low band or 75 ground frquency.

Yes, this is a 40 MHZ FM TX/RX. Ground Frequency. Your frequencies in the US are different to ours here in the UK/Europe I believe.

In the Futaba instruction manual it states that in the UK this system is classed as BA (cars and model boats only) with a frequency from 40.666 MHz to 40.995.

The RX/TX crystals I am using are a matched pair 40.695 MHz so they conform.

In Germany (according to the manual) this TX/RX is rated at FBA (All models) with a Frequency from 40.675 MHz to 40.695. The very frequency that I'm using. after that the rating is BA (cars and model boats only) from 40.715 to 40.985 MHz. There are twelve 10MHZ gaps between 40.715 and 40.985.

Although I did not purchase my TX/RX from them. you can see at this link that this Futaba 4YF is used here in the UK with the Tamiya RC Tanks.

OK, just thought you may have had an incompatability isuue, thats all. I know you have different freq's available to you in the UK, just thought maybe the EL-MOd system was not recognizing them for some reason. Then again El-mod is made in Germany I believe so that should not be it. We just dont see 40Mhz mentioned around here at all and it is confusing to some at times. Blitz what do you think could be the problem then?

Thanks for your suggestions Panther G. but I have a gut feeling its a problem with the board though.

I'm shipping the modules back to Germany and getting Elmod to check them out. Pretty frustrating really as the system isn't cheap, but thats the way the cooky crumbles[:@]

I have nothing to add as to why it doesn't work, but want to compliment you, holy crap is that a clean install. Wires all tucked really nice. Maybe that IS the problem its not a jumbled rats nest of wires, like mine would turn out to look like:D

It sure sounds like it is not seeing the signal, but it is really hard for me to evaluate! I do not have the new product yet,,, I am placing an order next week so by the end of March I will have the new product! If you want the new product and get in on the early buy you will get $25.00 off of your order if you get in on the Early buy! All you have to do is palce and order for a full EL MOD before the end of the February!! ( Full EL MOD does not mean the CSI Battle system )

I still have one set of the old style though, if someone is looking for a good deal on the Big Booster!
