HLONG RX18 vs RX14
Hi guys,
I have noticed that HL now comes with rx18 board which looked similar to tamiyas DMD box-congradulations. I liked the new look and design by HL. My question is how is it differ to its predesessor rx14 interms of its resitors and internal structure is it much reliable?? Would the new rx18 pumps more current as compared to rx14? Has anyone tried it? many thanks |
RE: HLONG RX18 vs RX14
My understanding (from reading this forum) is the RX18 has I/R capability and it more reliable than the RX14.

RE: HLONG RX18 vs RX14
I'm running a pair of Graupner 400 on my RX18 mounted on my Heng Long Tiger 1.
I've ran several batteries with it and it performed well for me. Ran in long straight full throttles and dead slow on obstacles and I did not notice or experience any fading in power or erratic performance. Though still I prefer the RX14 over the RX18 if it comes to power reqirements as I can install an additional heatsink and fan on the RX13's and 14's transistors. Good luck and happy tanking! |

thanks Dong, I suppose in Philippine, the weather is hot, and your rx18 is working.....
Have you tried on the beach and played for a 1-1.5 hours until the 3800mah go flat to test its reliability. 3 years ago I had 3 hl tanks burned due to heated circuits.... So with your ADDED heat sink and fan, is it easy to add onto rx14??? or you need to desolder... thanks |

ORIGINAL: johnmar78 thanks Dong, I suppose in Philippine, the weather is hot, and your rx18 is working..... I added the fan to save my boards :D No need to desolder, just unscrew the aluminum heatsink from the transistors (be careful though) and add the fan and or more heatsinks like I did to absorb the heat off from the transistors. Good luck! Btw here is a Heng Long Bulldog running in the same motor and RX18 but no heatsink or fan yet. |

If you're upgrading a tank from RX-13 or -14 to an -18, here's a how-to guide (same website as the fan how-to): http://www.rccommand.com/guides/upgrade.php
