hi
anyone have stars for the bulldog i am building a ww-11 landing craft for 2 bulldogs 1/16 scale and i can find the other set of decals for one of the bulldogs thanks

Any hobby shop should have generic white stars.....you need 2 cm....or about 3/4 inch stars. Get some aircraft stars and trip the circles. Put on turret sides, one on top (point facing rear) and on the rear....bussle box or rear plate...varried by unit. Also a star on the front and a 1/2 inch yellow bridge-class circle with black 25 in it on the left front, easy to make from aircraft decals. The M-41 wasn't around in WWII and that LCI would never handle two 25.5 ton tanks.

oops, hit the wrong button before I added congrats on a great job on the landing craft. Is that also RC? Lotsa nice work went into that. Be nice to see it " in action".

hi
i when a little to long on the ribs and when i started no one had shermans but tamiaya and they were to heavy and to costly so i went with h-l bulldogs and its the idea ,now h-l and moto are coming out with shermans so ill get two of them or i just may sell it atfer i try it out at my summer place when it opens may 1, thanks rye

Lots of really nice detailing. The uniforms sort of reflect Vietnam, so is that your target era now? M-41s were never used by the US in any combat, so these would have to be ARVN. It would be better with a Sherman, but then, in regards to weight, only one and you'll have to add the air stacks on the rear. Never been fully involved with landing/amphib, other than preparing to go to Lebenon from Korea in 1958. Then we had M-47s and one to a craft, and even at that, we were very nervous. All the prep work of sealing up everything prior to boarding is a real PITA. LST's would allow you to drive straight off, but smaller stuff, you had to be ready to go wading. Driving a tank under 5-8 feet of water is VERY unnerving. Waiting to see this deal in action. Assume the ramp is also RC?

yes the boat and tank and guys are a mix from ww-11 to vietnam but i did with what i have and like i said the weight of the tam tanks ,and the ramp is rc heres a youtube at the time its not smooth but now atfer some work it smooth going down and up thanks rye

Can't help on the decals unless you get some Tamiya Pershing or Sherman ones for the Bulldogs. You can get them for around $10.00 a set.

Take Pedinghaus with a grain of salt. They have good quality decals, but historic accuracy is questionable. I have corresponded with Ernst regarding the Tiger marking decals for Pershing and shown him clearly that no US Army Pershings ever wore the tiger markings. He responded by referring to Squadron's Armor in Korea, where is is very clear that he was looking at M-46 Pattons, not M-26 Pershings. No Army Pershings were involved in operations Ripper or killer in Apri-May '51, as we had turned them in in exchange for the new M-46s. Only Marine 1 & 2nd Divisions had the Pershings and USMC regs would not authorize use of the markings. (Re; USMC Korean Vets assn). Same question arose on their M-41 markings with 3 digit ID and citing some 5th Brigade, which they have yet to Identify. These are most likely Italian or French unit markings. [&:]

That is the most common mistake people make about Pershings and Pattons. Heck, there are those that do not know an E8 Sherman from an A3 Sherman. ;) Still, Peddinghaus decals are about the best you can get today and are readily available NOW. [sm=thumbs_up.gif]

Hi Panther, I already stated that "they have good quality decals"....Ernst at Pedinghouse now sees the difference in the M-26=46 and says they will be making a change in the tiger face decals ID. He was looking at the M-46 on the cover of Armor in korea and didn't know the diff. The M-41 decals he took from Bundeswehr static displays near his home town and from a Tamiya box and has no idea what the unit is, but agrees that US tank units did not use the 3 digit system.

Incidentally one E8 IS an M-4A3. Proper nomenclature in M-4A3E8 HVVS 76mm (W). The M-4A1 E8 still retained the air cleaners at the rear. (Note that the Tamiya M-4 105 has the air cleaners at the rear and it's a HVVS A3, not an A1.) Seems the mfg of "cadillac" of RC tanks also doesn't know the diff. After locating and conversing with a couple vets from my NYNG unit to solve this air cleaner riddle, it is thought that in my early recruit days, I was detailed to service one of the M-4A1E8 Shermans from A Co. and I didn't know back then the differences in Shermans, hence the confusion on location of the oil pans. When one is assigned to a specific tank, it simply becomes "MY tank" and is really immaterial what exact model it is. Supply and maint are responsible for ordering parts. The crucial issues are knowing proper operation, when to change what, when and how much. Maybe if tank crews would spend more time reading books instead of working on them, they'd be more proficient. I believe that today, I can still drive, gun, load and command a Sherman as well as any tank I have served in my 25 years doing it without reading up on it.

I stand firm on what I said earlier. :D Oh, and the Tamiya M4 105 kit is NOT an A3!! To be an A3 105MM Sherman it must have the Ford V-8 and the Tamiya kit has the aircraft radial engine in it. (look at the rear deck first)

So, it looks like someone needs some more reading up on it. [sm=lol.gif]

Pendinghaus makes great decals. That being said, some (just some) of their eariler decals were somewhat inaccurate. In their defence though the decals those earlier decals were based on reference books which in themselves were wrong. So in essence, just like us who want an accurate looking tank, we do our research and go with what we've learned. Its just that sometimes the books we've used as a reference are innaccurate. In the end go with what you think is correct, and if you have concerns, post it here and you're bound to get a discussion going :)

Just wondering if anyone knows if the Pershing had any color art like the Sherman did during WWII, so far i have seen nothing unless it was in a museum and then it looked as if it were painted on after being put on display.

I just looking to "dress up" my Tamiya Pershing, it seems like it deserves more than the "bland olive drab".
