Future Sherman Release Poll

[link=http://www.geocities.com/swathdiver/ShermanPoll.html]Sherman Poll[/link]

Thought I'd create a quick little poll to see which tank you guys and gals would like to see next. Feel free to post on the other websites for me as I'm going offline soon for about a week during the move.

It all looks good to me! I voted M3 because I have a bunch of DAK armour to fight, but I'll take all of the above...
Any news on the replacement VVSS kits? I know a lot of people who are crying out for them (and I'll take their HVSS assemblies off their hands ;) :D )
Cheer's!

I voted for a Firefly. Even if it's only another Sherman variant, it's such a uniquely British Commonwealth tank. And it's the best tank killer the Allies had!

Jumbo, we need another Allied heavy!

Where's the 'all of the above' option? :)

tac23 04-22-2009 06:03 AM

RE: Future Sherman Release Poll

PS the M3's a 'grant' not a 'lee' to us Brits!

swathdiver 04-22-2009 09:29 AM

RE: Future Sherman Release Poll

Brits used both the Lee and Grant in Africa.

No all of the above option because the intent is to determine what the NEXT one people would like it to be! :D

2 cents. Great poll, interesting stuff.

HL shouldn't over think the market research swathy, the demand for Allied Armor is self evident and I would order a Firefly if next up.

But for sure, I would buy the total Allied group your polling, just as quickly as HL releases them.

The deal is that HL has the USA ALLIED ARMOR playing field all to themselves, right now, so why not go for it and capture that market share while it is there for the taking.

They have no competition in that untapped category, hence there is no real Tamiya vs HL debate.

Tamiya seems completely dedicated to cool Axis armor kits and is now playing around with Soviet Armor.

Tamiya has nearly missed the boat in developing their own battle unit concept and they seem to have no interest in further development of their USA/Allied 1/16 scale armor kit product line, such as releasing an appropriate tank to tank fighting Sherman.

HL should grab that market while it is there for the grabbing.

Forgot, your right, Mato. The premise is the same, first guy with a good strong Allied rc tank product line will win big.

you are gold on that!

i would prefer any true brit tank not lend-lease variants/mods, like a churchhill or matilda
a french tank would be very nice but expecting any of the manufactures to bring out a somua s-35 or a b1 is unlikely

I voted M10 Wolverine, but would like to see tanks like the Cruiser, Comet and Churchill, Churchill especially as there are loads of things you can do with one if you look at the A.V.R.E variants, bridgetanks, carpet rollers, mine sweepers, crocodiles ect....

Simple answer for a simple tank:)

1) Jumbo

2) FireFly

3) Tank Destroyer (M10 or M36)

I'd like to see the TD's... they were forgotten too!

M10, M36 and Achilles on the Sherman chassis, but also the M18 on the Chaffee chassis (or was the Chaffee built on the M18 chassis?) And the Priest/Abbot would be interesting too, even if its arty, not tank.

But look at the M41, and you'll note its much like the M18/M24, except the chassis is Bass-Ackwards. Mato could do a semi-decent Chaffee and M18 on the chassis, seeing as they don't seem to care much about fine accuracy... Murphy, you listening?

Wonder if the Kugelblitz introduction by Modellino might mean we could talk him into making an M42 'Duster' turret for us to slap on the M41 chassis... Anyone?

An M-18 Hellcat would be sweet. The Hellcat was quite the tank killer. The M-18 and Chaffee are different chassis. I do like your idea for some tank destroyer M-18

I too would love an M18 in my stable! First we have all these Shermans to do. Would also like to do M3 and M5 Stuarts. All 3 would need miniaturized electronics compared to the current standard, it's being looked into! :D

If 1/35th tanks and even smaller can be radio controlled, then so can a smaller 1/16th tanks. Just not with the conventional electronics but if the tank is smaller, it'll need smaller motors and gearbox so the existing gear is out of the question.

swathdiver 05-02-2009 04:56 PM

RE: Future Sherman Release Poll

Being that the M18 did 55mph and the Stuart's 36mph, I would keep the 380 sized motors to keep the speed up. They'd definitely need different gearboxes and hopefully a market exists to warrant the expense of developing even more compact electronics.

Panther F 05-02-2009 05:43 PM

RE: Future Sherman Release Poll

That might be so, but the stock tanks today are way too fast right out of the box. I wouldn't try to make these 2 tanks fast at first, we can manage that after we get them in our grubby little hands. :D

RE: Future Sherman Release Poll

Now that the Tiger has white capped motors, it's realistic speed is nearly spot on. The BullDog and Panther are too slow. The PZIII and Pershing are a little slower than stock.

I think these smaller tanks will need ballast so their suspensions will function realisitically in 1/16 scale. That to me is the challenge, getting the Stuart's suspension to look right and function in scale.
