newbie trying to decide

I have read post on here for the last week trying to decide on a company to go with. I have narrowed my choices down to either Matomart or Rccommand. I am looking at purchasing 4 HL S&amp;S airsoft metal version tanks. Which company would you guys go with. I live in California and have read about how expensive Mato's shipping is from Canada but I went on both their site and it runs out shipping is actually $25 cheaper from Mato. Rccommand has you choose a value of shipping for each tank in your shopping cart, which is $20 for 3 of them and $15 for one, then upon checkout I was charged another $29 for shipping. THis seems a bit expensive to me. Anyone have any suggestions on anything in my post please....I have been driving myself nuts over the last couple weeks doing research. This forum is an awesome way to gain knowledge, by the way!!!!!!</p>

Remember, shipping form Canada to the US can be a lengthy process. also, think about service. If you need to warranty one of the tanks well, you may wait awhile. I have been here a short while, but some of the posts I have read indicate that Rccommand is held in high regard. You may regret the $25 saving later. Also you pay duty, do you not?

Customer service is what should be priority. RC Command is in the states and is easy to contact, PLUS he tests the products out first before shipping. I can't comment on multiple shipping for I have only purchased 4 tanks from him on separate occasions.

The total difference in cost would be $142 between the two companies including the tanks and shipping

RE: newbie trying to decide

If you've got the cash to buy 4 tanks, then it would seem the $25 or $29 more for shipping would be kind of trivial.. I prefer to purchase anything in my own country, rather than dealing with having to potentially return for refund or repair to an out of country location (which will always be more expensive and more hassle).

I'm new with this RC tank stuff too. I had great difficulty deciding which tank to start with, because in my case, I can only really afford to start out with one tank. Actually, let me rephrase that, I really should not be spending a dime on an RC tank at this time, as it is not a necessity, but I suppose I can manage to be a little poorer in exchange for feeling like a kid again with a cool toy (I never had an RC anything as a kid so I don't know, maybe just feeling like the kid part applies only, sort of).

If there was only one tank to choose from, that would have made that part much easier. At the same time, I'm one of those people that usually wants to be somewhat different, so I couldn't just get a standard Henschel King Tiger...oh no, that would be too easy and too common of a tank for me lol. I had to buy a Porsche KT kit instead.. Since it has no electronics, I am now struggling to reach a decision on whether to use a Tamiya or EL MOD controller and sound system. My "different" side wants an EL MOD with custom sounds (that I make myself), not the ones standardly available with EL MOD (which I'm not that fond of after hearing them). I think EL MOD has potential for really cool custom sounds, instead of the same old Tamiya MF sounds (some of them are good, some are not so good).

And I thought I wanted a KV, then I end up with a KT.. Nobody knows for sure what I will be driving come October...not even me lol. All I know is that it will either be German or Russian whatever it ends up being..

So if you feel like your having decision problems, you can take comfort in knowing your pain is probably minimal compared to some others on here.

Were both in California depending on where you live you may not have to pay any shipping if you get the tanks from RCTankWars.com and we inspect all the funtions of the tank before they ship and will support you after you receive your tank, or tanks!

RE: newbie trying to decide

Well, I'm trying to get back into tanks again, and had really considered RCCommand for my tank purchase. I emailed the guy there and he seemed friendly and helpful. However, when I decided I was going to order a tank this week (Panzer IV), I had a similar experience. When I added the tank to my shopping cart, it charged me $15 for shipping. I thought, O.K., that's fine. Then, when I went to paypal, it wanted to charge me shipping again! There was no way around it. So, I again was tempted by the ease of Tower Hobbies and the call of the VS tanks, and I bought another Tiger 1 in winter whitewash. I still want a big tank maybe I will try RCtankwars. It sounds like they will even do custom work.
