pershing tracks?????

Hey all

I how tight should the tracks on HL Pershing br?... just had mine apart, and when I went to put it back together they were so tight Icould
barley get them together. when I pulled them tight there seemd to be a 1 link gap unless I pulled real tight, I am thinking there should
be 1 more link added. If anybody can helpit would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Tankenstein

RE: pershing tracks?????

They're really tight when new. They'll loosen up after 10-20 hours of use.

loose or slack is what runs on my tank. Too tight or no play WILL add stress on your final diff. -damage your gears.

Let them be a little loose. The Pershing always had a loose "dip" off the sprocket to the first return roller, especially on a hard turn. For that reason, the compensating idler was put on the M-46. Too tight and you are going to damage all moving parts, particularly the idler.

Thanks guys

added 1 link, if I lift tank up off the ground the tacks sag about 1inch, but the tank seems to run better (not so tight) is these ok??

RE: pershing tracks?????

A pershing i bought was the same, tracks too tight and pulling the idler wheel arm out of shape so i put the spare link in and when they stretch i'll just remove it
