Paintballs instead of BB's

Just acqured a Heng Long Tiger fro Christmas and befoe I screw it up, can I use 6mm paintballs instead of the suppled bb's?

Bin the BB's that come with it, they're mishaped and can damage the gun. Paintball pellets are a bad idea as they tend to burst inside the gun.

I have had good luck with paintballs. Just bought some cheap ones on ebay. Do a visual inspection for misshapen ones or bb's that have a pronounced seem.

Question is, will your stock HL gun have enough power to break them. Probably not. My VS guns will brak them at about 10 ft. Not much more.

Never had one break in the gun.

paintballs are fine but like Perry said, you need to have enough power. I can break mine at over 50 feet but of course the closer you are the greater the likelihood of them breaking

Someone posted these a while ago... any reviews yet from anyone that's used them?

I had a lot of trouble with paintballs breaking in the breech and it isn't very easy to clean up. As said, they are also very inconsistent in diameter and the ones I did shoot I checked each individually with a gauge be be sure they would fit.

Also, they do stain! Several marks still remaining on the side of my shed and deck rails.

No, no, NO. vary bad thing to do. There are a lot of reasons not to. But like Ern said, the #1 reason is if the paintball breaks in the barrel you have to take the hole tank apart to fix it.

How many have you broke Baron? Every one, one every 5 shots, one every ten?

About one in three, but it was in airsoft guns. I been playing airsoft for about 10 years and when I frist started the paintball bb's had just came out with disasterous results. there are all kinds of marking bb's out now that dont use paint. surprised that you guys are not useing the sparking ones yet.

wed on a airoft site many years ago but they never have them in stock...they explode on impact.

As for the paintballs in tank guns there is not to much to get worried about as a heng long gun is so weak they won't break in the barrel and a VS gun at 150FPS still won't make them blow apart.

Yeah, that vid is as old as the hills and Kapowee doesn't and won't stock these. Nobody else sells them although I am told Japan and China has them. Chinese ones would be good, how scale would that be? Bullets with actual lead in them........:D

To the original poster, you will see there is not a simple binary response to the question, yes or no. There are some posters who have not used them that will tell you don't do it no matter what and there are some posters that have used them and say it is alright. I guess it all boils down to risk. There is a possibility they could break in the gun and you would have to take it apart for a good cleaning. Mine haven't but it is a real possibility. To me, it is just like any of the other myriad of breakdowns that occur when I drive my tanks. Clean out a gun, fix a gearbox, glue something back on.....it's all the same.

If your game, give it a try but don't expect much from the stock HL gun.

that's cool (where can I get some :)

there are cheap paintballs (that are easy to break but are not round and can break in your gun. Then there are harder seamless paintballs that are harder to break but seldom break in your gun. You need a powerful gun (a VS gun is a minimum)
