Tamiya Flakpanzer Gepard?

Hello folks, my interest in tanks has been recently renewed as of a couple of days ago. A flying buddy gave me a previously unknown and unidentified big 'ol tank. After doing research for two days I have figured out it is a 1/6 21st Century Abrahms. Someone has cut all the wires from the boards and broken off the main gun as well as other (kid) abuse. I'm thinking about salvage but I'm not sure how to go here.

BUT :D getting this tank reminded me of my project tank back in the closet in the toy room. It is an old Tamiya that I bought off ebay several years ago. Nothing is left of the upper hull, and electronics but the lower hull and transmission is all there. After doing some looking I belive it is a Flakpanzer. It also has metal traks and drive sprokets. I assume several hulls would fit this bad boy and I would like to make it run again. Any ideas where I could find the upper hull?

Tamiya made 2 kits that shared that chassis. The Gepard and the Leopard 1a4. Your best bet for parts would be sellers who specialize in vintage kits or try your luck on ebay.

Jeff's correct, look on eBay. During my searches I have seen them from time to time for sale, among other Gepard/Leopard parts too.

OK..I did a quick install of radio gear and got the little baby doll out in the yard. That tank just runs sooooo well.:D Single 540 motor with Tamiya basic speed control and a junky 2300mah 6 cell pack. I really like the transmission. But..problems! one track came halfway off and got lodged up. Turns out the tension adjustment was too loose. When I took it inside to work on it I found several of the caps that hold the track pins in place gone.[:o] Phil at rctankwars is sending some plastic tracks that should fit, but I need to repair those tracks. Does anyone know where to get parts for the old style tracks?
Thanks
Jim

Can't help with an entire upper hull, but these might get you started:

Maybe the older sherman (clutch driven model) tracks are similar to the Leo A4 or the Gepard? My A4 tracks have poor traction on some terrain wherein my JP or KT can cruise easily.

Hi, This company does the leo upper hulls but gets pricey by the time you add all the detail pieces http://www.scale-militaermodellbau.d...139_22_35.html

Cheers Ian
