Throttle Steering?
Simple question here I'm sure, but how is throttle steering accomplished with a two channel radio?
I have a basic two channel Tx/Rx, two ESC/Motors (one for each track) I'm not sure what is required to mix the signals to get the left/right throttle adjustments for steering. I was told a V-Tail mixer, but not sure if that's what would work or not as I've not worked with them before. Any suggestions?
|

You do not need V-tail because you do not need one stick control to run a tank. A tank is runned more realisticly with 2 stick control like the real thing. Just connect one stick to each channel. You might like to adjust the sticks to point same direction either switching them on your ( expensive) transmitter or physical tailor- rotate the stick anchor on your cheap transmitter . Or if you are not up to conversions, just get used to controlling the tank with 90 degrees' different hand directions. However, you need an extra channel if you want a rotating turret.

Very few of us run our tanks with 2 stick steering. Some do but not most. Gets very difficult while battling with 2 stick steering.

RE: Throttle Steering?
I'm stuck with a pistol grip Tx, so need to make it work. I saw a video demo on a V-Tail mixer that looked like it will work, but won't know until I try it. I've also been told an X-Tail mixer would be best, but they are hard to find.

RE: Throttle Steering?
This is a land craft frequency transmitter you are using, correct? Most of these tanks wont work with only 2 channels I think. Besides with the steering wheel on the sticks acts like 2 channels anyway does it not, one for left one for right and the trigger is a third. Oh and hey what part of Port Orange are you from. My parents lived there for 15 years. They just moved back up north here last year. I know they area well.

The Tx I'm using is the Traxxas TQ, it works on all of my cars and boats and is the only Tx that I have. It has a 3rd and 4th channel operated by thumb and finger. The throttle is Channel 2 (70/30) and the steering is Channel 1 (centered L/R).
|
