Guys, can someone post pictures of the difference between the early style tiger 1 tracks and the late style? If possible,I am looking for shots of the guidehorns on the tracks especially
Here's the issue I am having. I tried to get the pictures as clear as i could. the tracks bind on the road wheels. The road wheels do nbot fit orrectly inside the guidehorns and on the outsides of the guides..

from what ive seen the only diff between the early and late style tracks is the addition of ice cleats other then that they were the same.

i red some time ago some one was having the same problem you are having now and it was due to having purchased cheaper metal tracks withinconsistant castings. some of the guide horns were thicker then others. long story short he ended up filing some of the guide horns down /thinnerto get the clerances right so they would run smoothly.

Well, thatnks for the info, but it is liek this all across the board. I really do not want to grind each and every guidehorn down. This is really beginning to aggravate me.....

Joe, do the road wheels come apart? Can you add paper thin washers in between the halfs? Looks like all you need is a hair more width.

That might work on the outer wheels, but not the inner ones Tony

Well the inner ones are a simple matter of filing down the connection points millimetersat a time (if they doseparate).....way better thanfilingdown almost 400 guide horns, that's for sure. Then again, you could alway take the gamble of purchasing different tracks, only to find out...those metal road wheels are still the problem. Just a thought, any way....I'm sure someone has a better solution.

Yea, my main question is whether or not the asiatam of kenny kong tracks will fix this issue or if it is simply the road wheels that are the problem....

Hey Thanks for the warm welcome. Hopefully I'll have something to contribute sooner or later. LOL
Seriously Tony, I have been trying to figure out the why rather than the how to fix it. Something here doesn't make sense. These wheels came pre-assembled and glued together. It doesn't seem that they will seprate if eveything is aligned and fit correctly. Two sets of wheels, same issue? Something is amiss here.

Joe, While I don`t have an answer for your dilemma,maybe someone with an early style Tiger (don`t have one ) would be kind enough to measure across
thier horns to give you a steer in finding out wether it`s the wheels or the tracks that is causing the interference fit.I hope you have a micrometer or a vernier caliper.

I do have measuring tools. Being an auto technician, they are a part of my lifestyle lol.
I am really beginning to think it is more a track issue than the wheels...I want to try and verify beofre spending 160 bucks on tracks though....

Maybe you can measure the distance between your guidehorns, and between the two wheel halves, and someone that has a set that fit, can do the same?

I'd do it if I had the right setup! :)

Yes, that's what I am thinking as well. I posted the pics to show my issue, but I suppose I need to find someone who has something to compare it to.

Joe Check the idler.

If it bends (or rather the plastic) as the track goes around you'll have problems. Trust me I know from hours of trying to figure out the same problem. Do you have the brace for the back end?

The metal tracks, 3:1 gears and metal bits put a lot of stress on Plastic that was ever designed to see that type of force.

Thanks Chief, but this thing has the aluminum asiatam hull and all metal upgrades installed. No flex in this baby. I hope I get it figured out too...it's driving me nuts. I guess that's part of the hobby though...downtime is a normal part of running it.

It's the wheels, they suck,I went and took mine apart some fit wheel others dont, I went and fitted each set ,kind of a pain, plus their only held together with ca, I really wish there was a ball bearing set of late road wheels

Those late style road wheels have been a problem since they came out. That is why I'm glad I kept my Tiger an early so I have the proper Asitam early style roadwheels that work great.

Although much more expensive, the WECOHE Late Style road wheels work great.

EDIT: Of course the wheel covers, axles and center caps ARE extra. I paid about $250.00 4 years ago for my Sturmtiger. :D

I do hope we are talking about for the Tamiya TI.

LOL, I wish we were, but then again, I wouldn't be having this problem if it ws a Tamiya. It's an HL with Asiatam lower hull.

Aaaah. I couldn't tell and you didn't say in your first post. I have no idea if the axles will fit those arms but at this rate it's worth measuring.

Yep, this has been a battle all the way brother. I am going to take some measurements when I get my tools from work on Monday. I forgot to bring my caliber home...
