My old heavy hellfire with modded os28 easily does over 50 but keeping it under control "off road" is another matter. Great fun though.
50 is starting to hit the limit of single speed nitro truggies.

I drove one that easily did 50. Some guy showed up at the track the other day and said he had just built it but has never driven a RC car before so I took it for a spin. It had a Momba Monster on 6S and right before the front wheels came off the ground and it flipped over backwards it was at least doing 50.
Was a converted XST, BTW.

its all in the gearing...a single speed buggy can easily hit 70 MPH with a bigger clutchbell and stout engine........ In track gearing a stock Mugen MBX6 with a stock Ninja JX hit 51 MPH on our radar........My own Truggy with track gearing and a mod 28 hit 50 MPH very easily.....All you need to do is thicken up the center diff, and install a larger clutchbell....

True, but how fast does it get there and does it bog in muddy/rough conditions? there's always a trade off when you install tall gearing, i'e loss of acceleration and torque

My Truggy with a light mod JPX 28 will pull 50 MPH with track gearing.....it has awesome torque and acceleration.....of course the higher you gear, the more acceleration your going to lose...But really there is no point in making a offroad machine go any faster then 50 MPH.... if you want to go faster then build a onroad machine IMO
