I would get a Tekin RX8 1700kv system. And batteries from hobby king.
Beating your buddies at the track relies on 80% the driver, 15% setup, and 5% electrinics. (assuming they are all 1/8 esc's, motors, and batteries.)
Thats just me though.

the hot setup for a truggy is the Tekin RX8 esc and a T8 2000kv on 4s ... battery's? run the thunderpower 50/100c 4s lipo's and you're there. all ya gotta do is be able to drive it and with some consistency. ya said the best setup, well there is it take ur pick, ya can't beat thunderpower and tekin power systems!

Neu-Castle 1520 1Y 1600kv motor is ideal for Monster trucks. This is the bad boy! Think in terms of a chipped turbo diesel...

The super sized motor lays smack DOWN!!!!

Yeah , the 1515 would be better on 2s . I run all Castle systems in my 1/8th scales and they have all been rock solid and run VERY smooth .
The sensorless systems have gotten much better now and are much smoother with less to go wrong in the motor (no sensor pack to get fouled up with dirt) .
