Im looking at buying my 1st Truggy and im looking at either the Mugen MBX6T M-Spec or the Kyosho Inferno ST-RR, I guess they are both excellent truggys and it a hard choice. The mugen is however $150 cheaper than the Kyosho. Is the Kyosho worth $150 more?
Ive got a Inferno MP777 SP2 buggy that i race at the moment and it is an awesome buggy and im looking at racing the truggy to.
Another thing i would like some opinions on is what engine i should run in it, I think im leaning more towards a 28 sized engine rather than a 21 simply cause of t he weight and size difference between a buggy and truggy. Im looking at a novarossi 28 7 port. What do u think of this engine in a truggy?
Thanks
Stu

Kyosho is an older design and its due for a new one, the MBX6T (newer) is a great truggy though .... no truggy needs a 28, its simply to much. a decent 21 will be more than enough for a truggy. no one runs a 28 in truggy anymore. 21 are far better engines all the way around. the gearing is different between buggy and truggy to make up for the extra weight so you wont have to worry about it.... what is your price are wanting to stay below for your engine?

just out of those trucks the mugen is probably the better option especially for a new truggy guy. The kyosho is old but also proven, it can still win. While a .21 is all the power you would ever need a .28 is just too fun, but run times just arent there. Dont overlook a few other truggies either though k8t, z01t, x2 crt, xt8

I prefer the RPM of a .21 over the torque of a 28.........however the OS 25 is a great middle ground, it has gobs of power and makes killer RPM
here is my modified OS 25

The 28 engine im looking at revs like a 21 sized engine. Im the sort of person that loves power. The truggy isnt really for racing entirely, i only do it for fun.
What 21 sized engines do you recomend as money isnt really a problem but i dont want to go overboard. I have a novarossi 21 XLT 5 port in my buggy and that is an awesome engine but i want something that will pick the front wheels up and that wouldnt.

no 28 revs like a 21...the Nova 28-7 is a long stroke 28...nowhere near the RPM of a 21....not even close..

28s will not rev like a 21 no mater what it says, 28s just cant do what a 21 can IMO, 21s are better all around engines IMHO ... the Jammin JPX 21 has more than enough power, more than you really need IMO ... also the ninja 21 and werks B5 have alot of power. ... but to me it looks like you already have your mind made up on what you want...

Na i havent quite made my mind up yet, i do like the 28's simply cause i had 1 but ive found another engine that i quite like the sounds of.
http://www.novarossi.it/eng/products...display=public
Its rated quite powerful for a 21, more powerful than the 28 that i was looking at.

Toro are weak down low IMO not as much bottom as the P5 or plus4 ... also the toro are a little tricky to tune, Novas are good engines though. my favorite nova is Plus4

Those Toro's are nothing special... they have a good midrange and top end but are pretty soft down low...tho if your always running on a loose surface you won't miss the soft bottom...The P5XLT is likely the best rounded .21 for Truggy, it has a pretty stout bottom end, decent mid but doesn't have much for top end, but in truggy the bottom is most important anyways.......ANother options is a Werk's B5 on a 2013...they have tons of power in the low end and scream pretty good on top end...they tune well and get extremely good mileage..... I have modified B5 that flat out scream, killer bottom and mid and a scary top end...still easy to tune and excellent on fuel...

Manufacturers rated power and RPM are not usually very accurate..in the real world the 28-7 doesn't have much for top end next to a good .21..it does have tons of torque tho..... if you run in high traction then you may be able to capitalize on that torque......But usually most track surfaces don't have enough traction for a .28.. and on the looser surfaces you can use the RPM of a .21 much better then the torque of a .28.....
