Default The Ins and Outs of a Center Diff in a Truggy

So I'm new to the truggy scene, and the center differential is a bit of a mystery to me. I'd love it if knowledgeable RCUers could post basic "center diff 101" stuff here.

I'm not a racer, just a basher, but still I'd like to understand the proper way to "tune" your center diff, and the characteristics you'll see. Basic questions to start:

1) Why do truggies have one? What's the purpose?

2) Will having a center diff lead to odd acceleration behaviors off the line when I punch it? Will it handle/feel a lot different then, say, a 4WD vehicle with a slipper clutch (no center diff)?

3) What are some basic do's and don'ts regarding the fluid weight for front/center/rear? Like, rules of thumb, or "if you do X, then bad result Y will happen". Stuff like that.

I hope this thread makes sense and I don't come off like a total idiot. [&:]

Thanks!

Google triple diff basics. The first link will be to another rc forum. On there, you'll get the skinny on how diff fluids impact each diff.
