Associated 1/8 RC8T FT Truggy Championship Edition Kit or HPI Trophy
I've looked around and haven't really found any answers, between the two which is the better buy?

The Associated by a large margin. The Associated is a top-of-the-class race truck - and tough.. The HPI has no race pedigree, and is more for messing around..

There are tons of good options.. Alpha A352 or A852 would be great, Werks B5, Argus D52 or A52, Novarossi P5XLT, etc... There are really a lot of good engines to choose from.. Browse amain..

The OS .28 is meant to be thoroughly awesome... Bit extreme for racing, but for messing around, great...
I personally would take the OS 25 over the 28 probably.. I would expect with the .28 you'd have a bunch of superfluous torque, just eating up drivetrain parts.. The .25 would still have torque, and maybe rev higher...
I don't know for sure, but that's what I would choose..

DEPENDS WHERE YOU WANT TO RUN AND WHAT YOU WANT TO DO.
I have an SC8, and had an RC8T. Both are excellent. The truggy is a more complete offroader. The SC8 sucks at jumping, but still manages to be quite fun. Also fun on an onroad track with slicks btw..*
Track(offroad): truggy
Bashing, especially getting air: truggy
Messing around in parking lots, street, beach, etc: whichever floats your boat
Both are top quality. Just REALLY DEPENDS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO.
It's cheaper to get started with the SC8. I quit truggy racing because of tire costs. If you're not racing though, no biggie.. You can run buggy wheels/tires on the SC8 btw..
