Default Hot Bodies Lightning GT

I was looking around to find a good truggy for under $400 and I found the Hot Bodies Lightning GT for $419 at Ultimate Hobbies. Is this a good truck for a starter truggy? Is it durable, and will it take jumps well? Is this a good truggy to race, and how fast will it go? Thanks.

i think lightning gt is bigger than the lightning stadium rr or pro..
i think the gt can be set up as a monster truck and also as a truggy ..unlike the lightning stadium its a full time truggy..

can't speak for the gt but I have a lighting stadium pro. This is a excellent fun truck to drive, durability? it has some issues that need addressing but it will take some punishment, there are some parts that are going to break so you need some spare parts which are available at tower hobbies, truck is quick but stock motor winds out quick . Lots of low end power. good luck

the LSP can too bash! just cant jump as high as a MT. the GT looks like it has thin, weak upper arms. i dont honestly know how tuff the truck is though so i wont make too many more judgements.

35-38mph

HPI products.

Lose the icast ron cooling head and get an alum cooling head. The stock piece is like a lead hat.

What is a good engine that would make the truck go about 45-50mph? Also, what other hop-ups would be needed to make the truck fast?

I would think the gearing is the best place to start. You should be able to get an extra 5-7 mph from changing to a larger clutch bell.Im into the jammins but hear good things about lightnings

Should I get the Lightning Stadium RR or the Lightning GT? I like the GT more but I hear more things about the RR and pro, but the pro is just too much money.

Where is a good place to buy aftermarket parts for either the RR and GT? Also what is the final drive ratio on the GT? I'm trying to figure something out, but i cant find the final drive ratio.

truggyracers.com has a lot of helpful info on truggies. i picked up a jammin crt rtr, but was considering a mayhem as well because of the spektrum dx2 radio you can get for it.
