if you address the issues on the hellfire it is awesome. all new things take a little work but if you give it time and work with it i think it is just as good as an str or crt.

Yeah.. it seems that just about every f%$*kin part HPI makes is backordered... sigh
I finally found a shock tower for a Pro 4 thats been sittin for a month and a half... found it in Kowloon! that just aint right..
HPI needs to get their replacement part situation fixed.. ie IN STOCK!

On truggyracers.com I did a review on the Hellfire vs. ST-R vs. LSP-R....

I owned all three at the same time and did my own shoot-out with some of my other racer friends. Some of which are top finishers here in Colorado.

The ST-R was the best handling, easiest to tune, easiest to drive fast and took tuning changes well. The LSP-R was an EXTREMELY close second to the ST-R.

The Hellfire was well behind the other two. No matter what we did, it just didn't handle as well as the other two. Suspension tuning changes were not very noticable. It took alot more focus to drive fast. Now its not a bad truggy and as a matter of fact, I took 3rd in the A-main in my first race with it. But it wasn't as easy to drive fast as the other two.

If you want more info, you can read my full review on truggyracers.com (I'm not affiliated with them in any way. I just wanted to perform my own UN-BIASED test)

I´m trying to make the same decision, Hellfire or STS. I´m leaning towards the Hellfire since I think the STS reminds me a lot of the MP 7.5 Sports that I´ve just sold. Actually I think the MP 7.5 sports were quiet good except for the engine and the clutch.

Does anyone know how the engine is on the STS? Powerful? overheating easy?

My local dealer has Kyosho and your posts here makes me think I maybe should go with Kyosho again?

To be honest, IMO the best RTR is the TTR ST-1. Having had the lsp, it is far better when it comes to track performance.

i would get the hellfire or the hot bodies pro. kyosho is good also i just judge by customer service. hpi is awesome.
all the newer trugggies seem to be about identical. they all seem to have the same adjustments and all are around the same weight and size so it would seem they all should handle nearly identical to the normal person. yes?
so i bought hellfie based on customer service from hpi in the past. the hot bodies seems to be a really workable truck also.
im very happy with the hellfire though. i won my first two novice races with it.
i just need a wing for it is all.

Question what is the difference between the Kyosho ST-S and the ST-US? I do know on Kyosho US web site the ST-US will not be available till September.

You cannot even compare the HPI product to Kysohso. They are in different classes all together. If you want HPI, I think you can get it at Wal*Mart real cheap. We have been racing a Kyosho ST-R and an SP2 all season and have not needed to replace one part. We used to run Jammin and had nothing but problems. They are proven over and over again to be the most reliable. It's worth spending an extra few bucks to buy Kyosho.

I have drinem the HellFire back to back with my Kyosho St-S. The kyosho feels more predictable, handles bumps better. $400, makes it a lot cheaper with a better radio ta-boot. All the parts for the St-R fit on the St-s also. With the difference you save in price you can get a better pipe, servos, and some other goodies and be way ahead of the HPI.

I do not have near the vehicles being discussed on this thread but I do have both Kyosho and HPI vehicles! They are both very good products and IMO any one says different has either not experience both or just not good at working and running them RC vehicles. The biggest problem is parts for Kyosho are not near as easy to get as HPI!

I have no problem getting parts for the Kyosho's. Ebay, Amain Hobbies, Carolinas RC, Crispy Critters.

I did not say they could not be gotten I said it is not as easy. HPI parts are much easier to get as well as maybe 1 out of 10 hobby shops carry parts for Kyosho if that. Now on line how many places carry HPI parts and how many carry Kyosho?

Hi,

I wouldn't choose neither, quality won't take the abuse from a 9 lbs truggy. At that price range, I would suggest OFNA X1-XRT.

Regards

Joaquim

I think it all depends on where you live. He's in Macau, so it Hong Nor products may be cheaper there. I've heard of HPI being expensive in Australia for example.
